2014-2015 NHL Jersey/Logo Changes

Meh. I'm not a fan of teams bringing back old jerseys and making them new again. That jersey should stay in the late 80's/early 90's. Back in the pre-Internet days, when people watched VCR's, had no High-Definition TV, paid for Entertainment instead of downloading it for free, actually read newspapers and other printed mediums, had no CGI in movies but practical effects, and played video games that had 16 bits of cartridge technology.

UNPOPULAR OPINION: These are fine as a throwback alt but too dated to become a primary jersey. Love the colors but the striping would need updating.

You're right. You're not modern and chic until you look like the current Calgary Flames.

There is a middle ground, a concept that seems to be above you or one you choose to ignore.

The Flames' uniforms are a mess now. These are OK, just way too striped. Modernize these a little bit and go forward.

What is not modern about having stripes on a hockey jersey? What is the alternative? What good modern designs have you seen in the NHL? Since we haven't seen many good alternatives, I am struggling with your comment.

They might seem "too striped" because we are coming off 7 years of garbage designs that are nothing more than stripped-down, tacky piped smocks. Would you honestly rather have the circa 2007 Oilers and Pens looks over these because these throwbacks are too bold in color or jarring in terms of striping?

Wilkes-Barre has pretty much the exact same thing with vegas gold, and it looks pretty damn good. Just sayin'.

By time I got "of age" everything was internet. I missed out on a cultural experience, feeling the shame of walking into one of those rooms while nearby families are checking out videos. Simpler times, they were.

Absolutely, in fact, a team with the name Penguins NEEDS to look like this. Going the soulless corporate route (Dolphins) or the XX-treme, fierce route (Pelicans) with a goofy name is terrible.

Oh man, I wish I had 16 bits in my cartridge games when I was a kid... 8 was enough for us. In fact, my VIC-20 baseball game had @ on first & on second, % on third and $ was pitching and * was at bat, all the time, in every game. We were so hardcore we didn't need shortstops and outfielders. You young'uns were spoiled.

On the Pens' jersey. I really like them. They should become the primaries. Old is the new new.

I really like these, but I'm left feeling the same way as I did after the Blues reveal, and that is simply like a error was corrected. This team never shoud've strayed far from this look to begin with, and thus they leave me underwhelmed.

This alternate is exactly what they should be wearing all the time. It's bold, unique, and straightforward. No cluttered panels or piping. Just good old fashion stripes. Love it.

The Pens seem to be slowly moving forward in time with their throwbacks. Just a matter of time until these (ironically) become a throwback too.

But the general reception for their new 3rd jersey seems to be that Pens fans want Vegas Gold gone.

I've said on these boards a few times that Mario would never allow athletic gold to see the light of day on a Pens uniform again, and I'm thrilled to death to have been wrong. The logo size could have been reined in a bit, but otherwise beautifully done. Next thing coming will be Fleury breaking out the gold pads to match.

I honestly do not understand how anyone can be disappointed about Pittsburgh's new third jersey, even if it is a throwback and not something new. I guess to each their own. Anyway, that jersey is a 10/10. It is fantastic and a very striking look. I really like just how unique the overall look of it is too. Compared to the Robo-Penguin, the Skating Penguin is a fun logo. Don't get me wrong, the Robo-Penguin logo is a good logo, it really is but what has always bothered me about it is that I get the same thought I get whenever I see the Miami Dolphins new logo. It looks like a Corporate logo to me. Back to the third jersey. The only thing I wish they did different was to use the logo with the longer beak, but that to me is not the end of the world. I have a feeling that if the Penguins make the Playoffs this coming season, they will be playing their home games in this jersey. Speaking of gold Penguins jerseys, ever since the now incorrect rumor of a golden yellow third jersey for the Penguins surfaced, it reminded me of something I thought about last season. Anyway, remember the Penguins' Stadium Series jersey? I know that it wasn't anything special and I definitely don't miss it but I'm just wondering, out of curiosity, does anyone else on here wish that Stadium Series jersey they wore was Vegas Gold and not white? I do not like the Vegas Gold at all and I have never liked it but for that one game, I was really hoping to see a Vegas Gold jersey, just to see what it would look like.
