2015 NFL Offseason

Tomsula has a mustache and appears to probably shout a lot, as he is of the Singletary coaching tree. Somewhere in Naperville there's a guy wearing sunglasses indoors and an early 90s Bears windbreaker shaking his head at what a perfect hire he would've been in his proud, back-fat-laden city.

Uh, I think Naperville is a little too white collar for such a thing. You probably should have gone with Beverly or Oak Lawn. Although I've noticed The Score blowhards like to make fun of Will County. Do they also project themselves onto DuPage?

Trib reports Bears and Fox have mutual interest. I would personally love the hire but inevitably all the dreary bitter souls that compose our fandom will find any reason to decry it with their typical sour faced boredom.

What does the 2015 season look like for the Bears? Cutler gone, John Fox in to do what exactly? Vikings on the way up, if slowly. Lions angry at the world, Packers finishing strong yet again.

And they're playing both the AFC West & NFC West opponents. I think I see 6 wins max with everyone on their slate.

Hahahahahaha. The 49ers fire Jim Harbaugh because he hurt Jed York's feelings, then they turn around and hire they're equally abrasive defensive LINE coach to take the reigns. Really, Jed York, you've somehow outdone yourself in the stupidity department. Bravo. I honestly didn't think that was even possible at this point.

And of course this means that Vic Fangio, Tomsula's boss and the guy who was probably the best candidate for the job, is gone as gone can be.

Good to see they got their yes man! Idiots.

DuPage County is nothing but kids stealing their parents' prescription drugs. I want to make a t-shirt that says "DuPage" in the style of the DuPont logo, with "Better Living Through Chemistry" under it. I'd make a couple bucks on that.

Honestly 2015 and 16 are not going to be based on simply wins and losses, it's going to be scrutinizing how those wins and losses come about and how the infrastructure's drafts pan out.

I randomly selected a Chicago burb, also. I only ever dance around Lockport and Oak Lawn, and Lockport I associate with nothing and Oak Lawn I associate with car accidents and drunken irishfolks.

I had a bunch of friends at ASU who were from Naperville and their apartments reminded me of a Walgreens pharmacy. I saw one of them get busted the very first night I was there for getting caught with a bottle of his dad's seroquel.

It got pretty odd watching Blackhawks games in a room full of people luded out on Ketamine.

Bahaha. Oh Naperville.

I know nothing of Oak Lawn. We have an Oak Park, an Oak Lawn, and an Oak Forest. Oak Park is the one west of the city with all the Frank Lloyd Wright. The other two I confuse. There's also a Park Forest and a Forest Park. Mount Prospect and Arlington Heights combine their powers to form Prospect Heights. There is no mountain and there are no heights.

I will say that, while Tomsula was a head coaching candidate, I really would've thought that the Niners would've either promoted Fangio if they were to stay in-house, and if they weren't, then it seemed like Adam Gase was most likely to get that job. Vic Fangio's work speaks for itself and fits that mold of the exact opposite of the previous head coach (fiery and offensive-minded to calm and defensive-minded). The selection process leading into that hiring does strike me as a bit of a surprise. Fangio is a 3-4 coordinator so that gives a framework of either where to expect him to land or if the team that hires him decides to make tactical adjustments.

What little info I know: Oak Lawn is famous for 95th & Cicero, the intersection equivalent of Russian Roulette. It has a delicious pizza joint by the name of Palermo's, a giant Target, and a hospital that seems to have constant crackheads in orbit (which may just be a Chicago thing, I'm not certain). There is (or was, I heard it closed) an awesome Irish Pub dumped at one of the many ghostly strip malls that was rather nifty, considering it's surroundings. They have a few decent restaurants, but nothing great. It's WWII copypasta neighborhoods surrounded by awful, dangerous traffic and quasi-ghetto.

Del Rio's wasn't liked inside the building the past couple of years, and there were many inside who felt once he got paid his big contract he lost the zest for being a head coach.

According to sources, Del Rio was coming into the office this year at around 9 a.m. most days and leaving early.

That rubbed his staff the wrong way. It rubbed the front office the wrong way.

It even became a bit of a joke inside the building as the time he entered the building was noted some days by the staff.

My new favorite head coach. I wish he would've won games with this style so the Gruden types would shut up about their work ethics and how they come in at 4 am and leave at 3:58 am.

This was at Franklin Field in 1962. That's not really that long ago - can you imagine an NFL game with that backdrop today?

I certainly would love to go back in time to catch the Eagles at Franklin Field.

I gotta ask, did people like Franklin Field better than Veterans Stadium?

From being there for the Penn Relays, there are thousands of bad seats and the upper deck has no concourse, thus no restrooms. You must go back down.

More likely Pace could be insisting he take on Marrone as his OC or Fox came in with a laundry list of demands. Or maybe Pace felt like he had to do Trestman-like due diligence and insist that they interview Quinn on Monday, despite the fact that Quinn wants the Falcons job.

As of this moment, this situation is very typical of the Bears, but to be fair to them, not a single word has leaked from Halas Hall. This thing has been very silent.
