2015 NFL Season-Now with Playoff Talk

I really can't remember the last time the NFC has looked this weak.

2004 was pretty bad. It was the Eagles who were head and shoulders above everyone else, the Falcons were good, but they clearly weren't gonna win in Philly that year. The rest of the NFC playoff field that year pretty much had no defense.(Plus 2 8-8 teams made it)

I cannot see any scenario involving a healthy Aaron Rodgers in which the Packers do not go to the Super Bowl. Who from the NFC is going to get in their way?

Dare I say the Cardinals?

Also, if Brees is down..... Grayson starts. I'm okay with that.

But... but Luke McCown:

That would be my pick. Provided Carson Palmer remains upright for the entire season.

Anyway, it's only week two. Let's not get too carried away just yet.

Rodgers is the best QB in the NFL...not even close. People can give me the Brady argument but I'm sorry he's not even close. Only the defense can hurt the Packers, but the defense will suffice at least through to the Superbowl.

As a Patriots fan, the Packers probably would've beaten them in last year's SB. Rodgers is easily the best player in the league, arguably if you include JJ Watt.

The Packers will need to, seems like every season, avoid further injury to their scoring threats. Not sure if their uptempo style makes them more susceptible or not. Sunday night was getting rather thin, not sure they'd enjoy having to play 4-5wks without strong depth.

As for the NFC, it's still early. Hell, if San Fran can stay healthy & score some points, they might stay in the mix.

Romo should be fine right when he returns, not least he's already had this injury before so he'll know exactly how his body heals & responds (apples & oranges, I broke my clavicle a few years ago; was supposed to be in a sling for 5-7wks, I was back 100% after 3-4).

As for the NFC East, I don't trust Washington worth a damn. I also don't trust that the Giants are down & out. They've won SBs with these deceptive starts. I dare you to count Coughlin & Eli out, esp when they've given games away to a couple strong teams.

I'd be more worried in the AFC for slow starters... though the Broncos & Raiders might prove the Ravens' 0-2 start deceptive.

Gotta wait until week 4 is in the books before judging much more.

To me the Packers' biggest probably is their coach looks his puppy is dying whenever it gets close at the fourth quarter. Maybe the Pack would have beat New England last year; all I know is their coach lost them the NFCCG.

We're two games in and the best teams seem to be New England, Green Bay, and the Broncos' good fortune. Maybe the Bengals too, but no one should have any faith in them. I'd wait until week 8 to have any sense of clarity on this season.

You know Bears season is going great when the Sun-Times publishes a list of 10 QBs at home that are better than Jimmy Clausen, the list topped by Tim Tebow & Kyle Orton and concluding with Jeff George.

I hate everything right now. Chicago is a "Bears Town" but the team has been a belligerent suckfest for so long that maybe, just maybe, people are finally hitting their limits and are putting them on the same pay-no-mind list that the Blackhawks were on for so long.

It's too early to count out the Cowboys. Once we get our injured/suspended players back, this will be a different looking team. The question for the Cowboys is can Weeden just hold the fort, be a game manager with no/limited turnovers and to make throws when asked, and can the defense keep up it's dominance (#3 in yards and #1 in points allowed).

Right now the Packers look like the team to beat though.

Cowboys - Lakers - LAFC - USMNT - LA Rams - LA Kings - NUFC

Absolutely. The Cardinals are actually very scary if Carson Palmer can actually stay healthy. They have a great defense and a decent amount of weapons on offense. It feels weird to say because they're the Cardinals, but they seem to just be rounding into form. They kind of remind me of the Seahawks in 2012/2013.

I'm not sure if there's anything to the Orton-to-Chicago talk, but I've seen it all over my Twitter feed. I don't see why he'd come out of retirement to hold down the fort for a Bears team going nowhere while Cutler's on the mend. And probably not even if he were given the chance to keep the job. But I actually don't think Kyle Orton would be a bad option for the Cowboys.

So how many of us had the Colts at 0-2 and the Jets at 2-0?

Also, teams going into week three with better records than the defending NFC Champions: Tennessee, Jacksonville, Oakland, Cleveland, and so on...

This could be a weird season.

EDIT: Odd tidbit that I read today - the Titans don't play another road game until November.

Did the Bears lose Bob Avellini's phone number? Or were Shane Matthews, Erik Kramer, Vince Evans, and Bobby Douglass just too busy? :)

One of my favorite in-game graphics was the # of Bears Starting QBs versus the # of Packers Starting QBs since Brett Favre took over. For the longest time, the Packers side of the equation was 2 (Favre and Rodgers). Then Matt Flynn was added to the mix, and then Scott Tolzien and Seneca Wallace. So that graphic isn't quite as powerful, but it's still a stark contrast. Your post reminded me of that.

Don't forget about the great Jim Miller, too.
