New Sacramento Kings Logo Unveiled

Colours are great, logos are great.

I don't mind SAC on the jersey either.

Longer city names just don't look great because of how small you have to make the font. Look at New Orleans. You lose the bold impact that a jersey should have. As some here have said, apparently Sac is a commonly used nickname in Sacramento, so it's fine.

I think this counts as an exception:

...as does the current set:

But I can't think of another one.

Like the name "Philadelphia", the name "Sacramento" is a little too long to comfortably fit on a jersey.  (The team has recently had jerseys that prove this.) So, the solution should be to have "Kings" on the home and road jerseys.

"Sac" is very bad, if only for the easy mockery that it promotes: "Sac of sh--", "ball Sac".

A couple other decent abbreviations that run in somewhat the same vein include BKLYN and MPLS. Pittsburgh is even abbreviated PGH sometimes. I feel like these abbreviations stem back to before there was a standardized way of abbreviating things for the Postal Service. For instance, one sees the PGH abbreviation a lot from like 1910s and 20s (when the H was added back to the end of the city's name).

You know, the more I see of the new logo set in its completed form, the more I like it. I'm still not totally crazy about the font (the random lowercase N and the asymmetrical G really bug me) or the lines in the crown, but someone had a ridiculously strong bit of "Nike Speak" to sum part of it up. It's basically total BS (I think), but still a thought I enjoyed as a local.

Basically, the crown represents the the Sierra Nevada mountains (east of Sac, where I'm from), and the two lines represent the two freeways (HWY 50 and HWY 80) that run through them from Sacramento. The two intersecting lines on the basketball represent the two rivers (the American and the Sacramento) that meet near downtown.

That's total trash, and I'm pretty sure that's not part of the thought process they went with at all, but I SO want that to be true! :P

Either way, I'm really warming up to this look. The white keyline helps tremendously.

According to the official logo sheet, the Kings do have black in their color scheme. It may not be in the logos but it's definitely going on the uniforms and probably the court.

I also put this together in NBA 2K16. This would be a pretty good look.

I like it. I wouldn't be surprised if they put the SAC logo at half court.

I was going to criticize the uniforms, but it's pretty clear that they're not making uniforms for me anymore.  This is some crummy action figure, insert-random-element-here crap that doesn't look good on anyone but a mannequin.

Whatever.  I want traditional and/or simple.  The logos revealed are, in my opinion, a huge hit.  The uniforms that go with them appear to be failures.

Gray baselines feel very dull. I would think they'd go purple. Also I agree that the SAC logo will probably end up somewhere on there.

LOVE this court. I actually like that the border is grey and the paint is purple. One small suggestion that I would like to see.....swap the 2 logo's. Have the lion at mid court and the main logo on the sides. I don't think it will happen as i'm sure the Kings (and the NBA) want the city and team name with the bigger logo at mid court. Otherwise, great job!

I'm in the minority but I actually really like grey, especially the gunmetal grey, and I hope they use it more often (on the court and on the jerseys). I really like how they are using it on the "Sac" jersey. I also want to see a grey alternate, kinda like what bluemagic89 posted, but with "Kings" instead of Sac and one of the lion logos on the shorts.

The team decided to pay for a few tattoos at local shops to those who wanted them on a first come, first serve basis.

Strange, but that's kinda what the Kings are about at times.

BTW, I guess if I had to choose between those, getting the lionball on the back of my calf would be the most acceptable (still crazy though IMO), but who in their right mind would get the secondary SAC logo right on their forearm like that? Even I, someone who the SAC moniker doesn't bother at all, find that bothersome.

Not a fan of the logo, even though it is well designed, since it's very generic and the original didn't really have any redeeming qualities which to bring it back for. Also, the lion's head hasn't been designed very well, since, I'm surprised nobody has pointed out yet, there's something wrong with the structure of his jaws and mouth that bothers me. Neither do I like the way the front paws have been drawn on the full-body logo. All in all, the lion looks like it hasn't been drawn to the highest standard and looks minor leaguish instead.

This right here is a well drawn lion's head logo:

The uni, as much as is visible of it, doesn't seem to look bad at all, and I have nothing against the city abbreviations.
