(NHL Playoffs) Rite of Spring 2017: can't go on, no, I'll go on

Man and I thought I felt bad the way the Sharks went out. I feel for you Preds fans. That's a rough meatball to swallow.

"And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life... You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. But don't worry... you will someday."

The fans throwing :censored: on the ice is unacceptable, they should be thrown out immediately. However, I will say they were robbed of that goal, the official was way too quick with that whistle. Looks like Buffalo/Dallas part deux.

Congrats to Nashville on a great season. You have amazing fans and an amazing team, you'll be good for years to come.

In the meantime...HELL YEAH, BACK2BACK!!!

These are the great Predators fans we hear so much about, delaying the dying moments of their season because they all threw crap on the ice. We knew what you were all along.

And for the first time in league history, the referees win the Stanley Cup!

It was a big day for them. They don't usually get to have this much sway in the outcome.

It's really weird for a team to win a best-of-seven series and still feel like they didn't really earn it. I guess that's hockey for you.

This is relevant again (and always)

The Penguins are not my cup of tea. I'll admit it, I didn't want them to win.

But I have to tip my hat to their big game prowess.

Under Mike Sullivan, they are big-game assassins that have NEVER EVER EVER lost when it matter.s

Game 7's, down 3-2 to Tampa.

I didn't want them to win, I don't like the same old same old, but they are clutch as hell in money games.

I say this for pretty much everyone else who's not a Pens fan. Just step off already. You don't get to bitch about anything right now.

Crosby will probably get the Smythe, even though Guentzel should.

This would taste less bad, if it weren't for that disallowed goal. Oh well, we're a young team, with a lot of cap space. Let's see what Poile does.

Congrats, Pittsburgh.

Thunder Bay Lynx - International Hockey Association (2 seasons, 2017-18, 2019-20, 2018 Xtreme Cup Champions)Houston Armadillos - Major League Hockey (2 seasons, 2016-18) | Minnesota Muskies - North American Basketball Association (1 season, 2017-2018) | Louisville Thoroughbreds - United League of Baseball (1 season, 2017, 2017 United Cup Champions) | Las Vegas Thunderbirds - International Basketball League (1 season, 2016-17, 2017 Champions)

Well...it was a great run, boys.

I mean, let's look at this thing: 16 seed, swept their nemesis, battled through and beat St. Louis and then Anaheim, lost three players and nearly a fourth during this run, and still managed to push the Penguins this far--and in the process, solidified a city full of transplants into a solid sea of gold.

All in all...Nashville might've lost the cup tonight. But they gained a whole lot of respect, and a good number of new fans in the process. (And may have finally divorced me from my Pittsburgh nostalgia. Sports are funny.)

Til next season, boys.

All four penalties called this game went Nashville's way.

So I'm not buying the "Preds were robbed" narrative.

If the Preds had just scored on one of those power plays (including a 5 on 3) we're going to OT.

The refs didn't screw anyone. The Preds lost it.

Am I not allowed to celebrate in my team's victory? I'm not admonishing the opponent or their fanbase. But if that's how the general attitude is around here then I'll back away.

Refs were the deciding factor. If the game had a wider goal margin, ref error would be irrelevant. But it was the deciding factor, for the most part.

Like when they decided to put Pittsburgh down two men and then the Perds couldn't score on it? If you need a tying or go-ahead goal on a five-on-three and you don't get it, you earned your loss.

It wasn't clean and you guys know it. Justify it however you want but you know that was horse :censored: on top of a mountain of horse :censored: that all somehow seemed to go your way. Take this from a 2002 Ohio state football fan, you'll never feel 100% good about it. It'll be tainted forever.

Cheers, :censored: off, see you in October.

Nope. Not at all. The Preds had four power play. Including a 5 on 3. All they had to do was score on one power play. They didn't. Nashville had their chances.
