I also don't like the gold lettering. It was good when the Red Sox did it, considering the Curse. But it definitely should not have become a regular yearly thing. But I don't mind a patch. 1 hour ago, SilverBullet1929 said: Surprised this hasn't been brought up yet but the Royals Spring Training jersey will have an R instead of KC as the chest logo... I'm not a fan... I am not a fan of this, either. What's more, something is wrong with the orientation of the R; it's rotated several degrees too far in the counterclockwise direction.

After the first two games with the gold-tinted jerseys, the Cubs didn't wear the patch. Kinda surprising considering, well, you know...
Jungle Jim 876 Posted February 8, 2018 Back to the Marlins, I would be in favor of their wearing the original teal-centric sets from 1993 for, say 81 home games and...I don't know...maybe just 81 road games...plus any postseasons games they may play in.

WSU151 9,801 Posted February 8, 2018 The Astros’ hat is essentially a preview of what the 90s colors would look like with current logo. Not bad.

Just went to mlbshop and its almost sold out in all sizes already Honestly, if the Rays ditched the stupid 1998 style gradient oval and just went with the yellow outlined ray on this cap, that would be an absolutely PERFECT primary cap for them. The TB they use now is such a weak cap mark. This would be a perfect upgrade for them. Not every team needs a letter primary cap. A team like the Rays should embrace being brighter and a little more out there.
PhysicalGraffiti 63 Posted February 8, 2018 I'm shocked, I thought the current owners hated the Devil Rays part of the team. It was such a huge downgrade and insult to go to the Rays of sunshine anyways. One of the worst looks in baseball now IMHO especially considering what a unique identity they had before.

If the owners hate the Devil Rays years then I definitely commend them for bringing it back for this 20th anniversary celebration because it shows a commitment to the fans and the teams history even if they (the owners) don't like the look themselves. Again, I don't know if this is the case but if it is then pat on the back to them.

It looks like it's intended to match the orientation of the R in the regular script wordmark. Edited February 8, 2018 by leopard88 Grammar/spelling

They've only ever worn then once in 2009. They do occasionally sell throwback merchandise with that logo, but it's rare. As for this showing a commitment to fans, I can term you that a good majority of the fanbase feels betrayed by their constant trading of franchise players like Longoria, Shields, Zobrist, and Price. I don't know that a throwback uniform will fix any of that, but I certainly appreciate the effort.

While I don’t mind the opening weekend gold trend, the patches should definitely be limited to those games. Not the whole year. Related lukewarm take: Once the All Star Game happens, the host city should stop wearing that year’s patch. It’s in the past at that point, no one cares anymore.

You're proposing changing the uniforms mid-season. I don't go for that. Though one of my favourite teams did just that, when the 1972 A's added front numbers after the All-Star break.
