Kelly is known to abandon his team right before important bowl games. He left Central Michigan for Cincinnati, leaving Jeff Quinn to coach them in their bowl game. He left Cincinnati for Notre Dame, again leaving Jeff Quinn to coach them in their bowl game.  Dont be surprised if Jeff Quinn coaches the Irish in their bowl game.

I was never a fan of Brian Kelly, so there's no complaint from me. Some of the things he said this year made it seem like he was on his way out, whether to another job, or retiring. ND will probably go after Fickell, but I'm not sure if he'll leave Cincy. Their best option is probably Marcus Freeman, and it kinda felt like he was being set up as the next in line, just not necessarily this soon.

I think Fickell would leave Cincinnati, unless he feels like Day may bolt OSU for the NFL soon.  The problem is he would probably want to coach the CFP game, which is complicated by ESD.  Matt Campbell at Iowa State is another option I would probably take before promoting a DC that may not be ready.

I don't know if it's been confirmed, but I saw five years $75 million, which he is not worth (or 10 for $100 million, not sure now).  But it lets Woodward maintain his reputation for making big hires and it lets LSU fans brag about Woodward's reputation for making big hires.

Well, amidst the coaching carrousel of the last 48 hours or so, here are my predictions for the (top 6, as these are the only schools with a legitimate shot at the moment) CFP rankings:

1. Georgia

2. Michigan (their dominant win over previously #2 ranked Ohio State jumps them over Alabama)

3. Alabama (their multi-OT-needing win over a previously 6-5 Auburn drops them to #3, Iron Bowl rivalry notwithstanding)

4. Cincinnati

5. Oklahoma State

6. Notre Dame

Good thing the players can't just transfer whenever they want and get paid millions for... you know... actually winning the games that get these coaches paid and enable them to switch schools whenever there's an opening.

At this point, is the average salary of the top 32 college FB coaches higher than the average of NFL coaches?

Bowl games are glorified exhibitions and have been for a long time. No reason for them to take up space at the old school and delaying the process of putting together a staff and recruiting at the new school, especially not with the early signing period. What makes this weird is the playoff and the fact that Notre Dame wasn't 100% out of contention yet.

Who wouldn't want to play for a guy like this?

My memory is fuzzy, but didn't he do pretty much the same thing on his way out of Cincinnati?

Except he had a police escort when he did it at Cincinnati.

Yes because word had broken out that he was leaving after leading the team to their best season ever in school history. 12-0, Big East champs and a trip to the Sugar Bowl to play  Urban Meyer and Tim Tebows Florida Gators. He had a police escort to a downtown hotel as the public had already found out but the team had no idea as they were there for their postseason banquet. Thats where he informed the players and coaching staff that he was leaving and then left just after telling them. He had lied to the administration, his players and the media, saying he loved it in Cincinnati and wasnt planing on leaving just days before. The man is a snake. He did the same thing to Notre Dame as he did to Cincinnati only its getting more attention now because of how big Notre Dame is compared to Cincinnati and Central Michigan.

If Bama and OK State win, then we're looking at Georgia, OK State, Michigan and Alabama, right? Cincinnati definitely doesn't control its own destiny.

That's one scenario.

The best case scenario is that Georgia, Michigan, Cincinnati and Oklahoma State win their games. Alabama falls out, giving the CFP a fairly clear cut final four.

Variation #1 is if Alabama wins - The SEC would be assured two teams in (Alabama and Georgia) and the other three are fighting for the final two slots. There could be changes in this variation if either of those three teams lose or (worst case scenario) all three lose.

Variation #2 is if Michigan loses - Notre Dame (at #6 right now) could sneak into the picture here. The Fighting Irish need, at minimum, a Georgia win to give them the best chance since they're the only team in the Top 6 not playing this weekend.

Variation #3 is if Cincinnati loses - the other teams stand to gain a metric crap ton if the Bearcats get stunned by Houston in the AAC Title Game. Not only would Houston more then likely get the Group of 5 bid to a New Year's Six game, Cincinnati would be sent to a second or even third tier bowl game despite their high ranking. All that work goes up in smoke.

Variation #4 involves Oklahoma State losing - Baylor would need a big, impressive victory to leap past the others that aren't playing this weekend and put themselves into the conversation. That potential final slot could come down to either Notre Dame or Baylor and the Bears would have a key tiebreaker - a conference championship.

Roy Manning, Current or former (who the :censored: knows?) Oklahoma CB coach, was on a recruiting trip with Bob Stoops today. Roy Manning was allegedly also contacting recruits on behalf of USC.  Everything about Lincoln-to-USC looks shady.

Playoffs Semis:

Alabama vs Notre Dame or Baylor

Michigan vs. Georgia

As long as Cincinnati beats Houston, they'd get in over Notre Dame or a 2-loss Baylor, IMO. But I think a 1-loss Georgia (and thus, a 1-loss Alabama), paired with Oklahoma State and Michigan wins, would be what would knock them out.

Oklahoma's players are jumping ship:

I'm used to backups skipping out when a coach leaves, but their best WR is skipping town, probably to USC.
