Don't think of him as Favre's backup, think of him as a beefy white guy from Wisconsin named Doug. That explains the Favre memorabilia. It doesn't, however, explain the carpet.

I guess that explains whatever the hell this vehicle is:

Crazy. Actually, from 2009-19, only Mahomes, Watson (that should be changing), Mayfield, Darnold (that also could be changing), Allen, and Daniel Jones are still with their original teams.

It just goes to show you that no matter how important QBs are to franchises, it is so hard to find a great one.

Which is why you should only take one in the first round if you're 100% convinced he's your franchise guy, and if there's one that you are convinced in, you should do whatever it takes to get him regardless of the rest of your team.

You shouldn't draft a QB in the first round just because you need a QB.  Conversely, you shouldn't pass on a guy that you feel is a 'franchise' guy so that you can build up your line instead.  If you need a QB but there's not someone you're convinced is a franchise guy in the first round, spend those picks building the rest of the team, and grab a QB later on and see what happens.  If the franchise guy is there next year, then do what it takes to get him.

In the Eagles case, I don't blame them one bit for doing all the maneuvering it took to get Wentz back then, and if they're convinced that one of these QBs this year is a true franchise guy, I wouldn't blame them for taking one even if it muddies things with Jalen Hurts.  Assuming they're not sold on Hurts and still feel like they need another QB, I'd rather them just see what happens with Hurts unless the QB that's there when they pick is the exact guy they want and not just the 'best available'.

EDIT: If they draft the guy from North Dakota State there may be a million people lining up to jump off the Walt Whitman bridge.

Right. See Gabbert, Blaine, Locker, Jake, and Trubisky, Mitch. Those teams drafted another QB in the first round a few years later, and the Jags will draft their second first-rounder since then this year.

So stop trying and just treat the position as the NFL's version of the putty patrol, perpetually cycling through 1st round QBs on rookie deals, because those contracts are cheat codes.

Maybe there could be some kind of QB exception to the cap that would make it easier to build and maintain a team around a star QB who's eligible to get paid.  Work it out so the player/league split remains the same or similar, but more can go to the QBs.  It's complicated but some nerd could figure out a good system.

You’ve never seen a side by side/gator?

I don't have the slightest idea what that is.

They really aren’t uncommon as you are making it out to be. Just google “side by side” and I’m sure you’ll recognize them. That one just has its hood open.

They're definitely uncommon in this metropolitan area.  Obviously not elsewhere.  I've never seen one in person but I'm not claiming to represent the majority of people.

Doug Pederson grew up in Bellingham, Washington which is a rural town about 90 miles north of Seattle, went to Louisiana-Monroe University which appears to be closer to Little Rock than New Orleans.

So, knowing all that, what's in his garage shouldn't be a surprise at all. Not to denigrate his hobbies, of course. Some people like fine wine and opera, some people like to go ride ATVs and hunt deer. To each their own. Just makes sense now.

I don't know that I would call Bellingham "rural," per se. Outside of Bellingham, sure, but Bellingham proper has far more in common with Ann Arbor or Ithaca or Madison or other college towns. Not as well known as those, but you get the idea.

Yeah they’re huge out west and in the upper Midwest. Texas, too. Basically anywhere you hunt or use the back trails for whatever (hiking, fishing, etc). You kinda live in one of the areas of the country that is separated enough from it that it would probably wouldn’t have a particular use for these.
