Now, to be sure, some of that was just on the type of player Mariota is--he's athletic, not afraid to run and definitely not afraid of contact. At the same time, he never was exactly a pinpoint-accurate downfield passer; he was more of a read-option and if-it-aint-there-I'm-taking-off-with-it kind of guy who sometimes slung it downfield, who also held onto the ball far too long at times which didn't help his cause at all. All that said...dude hardly had any half-reliable receivers aside from Delanie Walker. He also dealt with having five different OCs in five years, was drafted by the same head coach who completely switched up the extremely effective and successful identity of his offense for a Super Bowl just to "stick it" to his old team only for it to immediately backfire (that'd be Ken Whisenhunt, back in SBXL), then he got stuck with Mike Mularkey as HC, whose offensive philosophy was still stuck in the 70s--oh but who coined the whole "exotic smashmouth" offense thing that never really got off the ground, and in all that, they kept trying to turn Mariota into something he is not rather than taking the John Harbaugh approach and adapting the offense to Mariota's strengths (see Jackson, Lamar and how adaptability in offensive scheme can yield success), thus letting Mariota be who he is on the field. When he played that way, he was far more effective (check the wild-card playoff game against the Chiefs from the 2019 postseason). Of course with that came the costs: dude kept getting hurt. So yeah, some of it was on Mariota...but he was also in a jacked-up environment in Tennessee that never came close to giving him a real shot to succeed. *Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. || dribbble || Behance ||
Rockstar Matt
This Cowboy team has the potential to be the best Cowboys’ team I’ve seen in my lifetime. They look special. I know McCarthy might not be the best coach in the world, but there is an astounding difference in how this team looks under him versus Garrett. They’re well prepared, don’t overlook lesser opponents, and they’re the better coached team with a clear advantage in game planning. I am not used to this lmao. And they’re not even playing all that well, yet they’re absolutely blowing out bad teams like a good team should do. With how they started today, this was a game they would have blown under Garrett. Easily. But instead they put away a weakened Giants rather easily. Cowboys - Lakers - LAFC - USMNT - LA Rams - LA Kings - NUFC

CaliforniaGlowin
As a Raiders fan it's hard for me to say this, but the Chargers are legit!!! They finally got a coach that has some balls to make gutsy plays. Just gotta get a decent kicker. Stadium was pretty full too. It's a good time to be an LA football fan. BBTV
I don't think that what Urban Meyer did was a big deal (other than to his family, and that's a whole other thing) but listening to him talk in his press conferences, he sounds like someone who was perfectly comfortable being a "leader" when that meant bullying and manipulating teenagers, but is completely out of his league when he's up against the real press (even in Jacksonville), "adult" players (as much as any of these guys can be referred to as "adults"), and any situation that he can't simply snap his fingers and say is over. What a complete and total fraud. And just about everyone knew it! Was SK just totally trying to sell tickets by bringing in Meyer and Tebow and didn't care about these character and leadership issues that everyone else with half a brain could sniff out from a mile away? That so many of these college coaches make millions bossing around teens that either lack the upbringing to challenge their nonsense or are so hell bent on making it to the NFL that they'll do whatever they say speaks to so many issues in society, but those can't all be solved now. But for the time being, I'd be satisfied seeing Meyer bolted to a cross, with one of those bolts going right through his face. The track record for college--->NFL coaches is so abysmal that there's no way it could have been anything but a cynical cash grab. DG_YouKnowWhatThatMeans
I feel like roughing the passer is the new holding -- you could call it on almost play if you wanted to. On 4th and whatever, the Chiefs dropped the ball, but Ed Oliver from Buffalo crashed into Mahomes as he was releasing it, and boom, 15 yards and a first down for KC. I really don't understand how you can penalize momentum sometimes, but not other times. Ended up being nothing because of another Mahomes pick (!), but still. Re: Meyer -- it does seem like Jacksonville wanted to win the offseason with the Meyer and Tebow pickups. Sometimes that's all a team can hope for. 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags

IceCap
Meyer is speedrunning the Petrino Experience, and Petrino at least had the good sense to not grope a girl who could be his daughter in public. I think we all knew Urban Meyer wouldn't work out but I figured we all assumed he'd have a 4-13 season and slink off into the night. Nah...he's imploding at record speed. DoctorWhom
What college coaches have actually worked out in the NFL? Jim Harbaugh is the first that comes to mind. I'm not big on college football so I can talk too much, but was Meyer really that sought after? It's not like he was a Nick Saban right? (not that his pro record is anything to brag about either). Seems like a hiring done for all the wrong reasons. As far as the Gruden stuff, I don't see the big deal on that. Obviously he was pissed and used language he really shouldn't have, but he wasn't in the NFL at the time & as far as I've heard, he's never had any kind of history with racism. And man, KC really has fallen huh? Schedule obviously hasn't helped but they certainly aren't the juggernaut they were a year or 2 ago. Who would have thought it's the Chargers at the forefront of the division. I'm happy what Chargers fans are left are enjoying some sustained success finally, but I hate how it's also rewarding bad ownership like Spanos. Bills are legit now too. How ironic that after the Patriots finally fall it's another AFC East team that rises to basically take their place. LOL

Nick Saban could have worked out as a NFL coach. His tenure wasn't bad, and he seemed to adjust to the culture of being a NFL coach rather well. Unlike others who, as BBTV mentioned, can't function when they're not able to throw their weight around with teenagers. He just got offered A LOT of money for his dream job. Can't blame him for taking it.
