I would love for the Vikes to go back to this set full-time, but my only problem would be that the home jersey would not match, If the purple jersey had white/gold/white (or gold/white/gold) UCLA stripes, it would be a top-5, maybe top-3 NFL set.

Nah the Vikings were right to ditch the triple/Colts/LSU/UCLA stripes/whatever you wanna call that stripe set. That particular mismatch always felt like a product of it’s time but in a really dated way rather than in a reminiscent way.

That the slob shirt is slightly mismatched is icing on the cake.  All it’s missing is a big black swoosh.

Fine I suppose.

My issue is the all navy. Bears have gotten smoked every time they've worn that set.

Literally my only good memory of the all navy set is the first time they wore it...and only because I wound up being yanked into an otherwise all-girl watch party back when I was in college.  I'd rather see the Bears wear fake snouts for a game than all navy at this rate.

I also saw that game while I was in college, though I wasn't at a college for complicated reasons.

Though admittedly, I wouldn't have been invited to an all-girl anything at that age.

Why do these teams now think it is bad to have contrasting elements? Couldn't keep a speck of navy anywhere? Why? For what reason?

There are specks of navy on the logo, facemask, lettering, numbers, and every stripe on the uniform.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: whenever you see a crowd of Bears fans, keep an eye on the guy in the orange Urlacher jersey, because he is going to hurt himself doing something really dumb, probably involving a railing.

Maybe speck wasn’t the right word. All I’m saying is there was no need to make navy nothing more than a trim color. This look was fine with a navy helmet and socks, and now they won’t even look like the Bears when it’s worn.

Especially if its one of the bad early knockoffs from the mid-2000's with the wrong stripe pattern.

One more thing about the Bears uniform schedule.

This photo shows the all blue as featuring the regular navy blue socks with white bottoms, not the color rush socks which are solid navy.

In the three non-color rush games the Bears have worn navy over navy, they deployed their white road socks.

For the record, I would be ok with the Bears just wearing the solid color rush socks full time, even with white pants. I think we're well past the days of white bottom socks for football and at least this would maintain the all important triple stripe pattern and avoid the dreaded yoga pants look.
