2022-2023 NHL Jersey Changes

Liking the new Sharks jerseys. Seems like a modern throwback like when the Capitals made the Reebok switch in '08.

My money is on this, or something close, being what the Pens come out with, considering how they treated the first RR. If so, I would be pretty happy (though I'd hope they'd not flip the yellow and white). So, overall, I'm more excited than I was before. I don't know why, but my gut was convinced they'd bring back the blue again - though, there's always the Winter Classic for that. (If they decide to bring these back, I'll be cool with it).

The Pittsburgh Penguins should have done with the Arizona Cardinals did to their logo. Take the classic skating penguin, fix up some of the outlines, re-trace the gloves/skates, and add some better looking tape to the stick, etc.

 

I saw a thread a while back where someone was polishing up old logos, to make them look better. Now we have the technology. Back then, the logo designers software was more limited.

The Sharks new jerseys are two thumbs up.  Only complaint is the orange border on the logo.  It never looked right, even with the old jerseys.

Looks good! I'm really digging it. Hope it actually makes it on the jerseys... I assume there will be a black variant of the logo just like the old peace tower script had a white version for the black jersey, and a black version for the white jersey.

 

EDIT: Hmm, anyone notice the clock hands? Do they mean anything? The original doesn't have that detail (it's just a solid block), but had they moved the hour and minute hand, they could have made the clock read 20:22 in military time. Wasted opportunity!

 

 

the peace tower logo is amazing, i wish they'd use it more. at LEAST as an alt jersey. hope that makes it onto the jersey

Yeah, someone on reddit pointed out that watches/clocks are often displayed showing the time as 1:50 for aesthetic reasons. It's too bad though because all they needed to do was swap the long & short hands to make the Alfie connection. Otherwise I'm not sure why they felt the need to add hands to the clock when they weren't on the original logo.

If I were forced to have a jersey ad I'd allow it on the vaunted "hanger effect" inside collar in honesty the few I've seen haven't been the end of the world where colors match - I think those will be about as noticeable as SJ waves: not at all.  I think some of the contrasting helmet ones from last year were worse.  Also keep in mind from tV angle we'll probably rarely see the collarbone area

honestly that’s partly what pisses me off so much about the ads.  They aren’t that noticeable and prominent so why have them?!  It’s not like euro soccer where they are the main element of the jersey. 
 

Why screw up a jersey and all the history of the game for a small little patch.  Just so lame and greedy.

Oh, these absolutely :censored:. All damn night. Best the Sharks have ever looked in the disastrous PikaShark logo era. Possibly the best they’ve ever looked full stop. I’m still not too thrilled about the mono teal look, but my hope is they drop an all black alt, and can sort of interchange the black shorts and helmet with the home sweater on occasion (games vs someone like Detroit would be perfect for this) in order to keep that classic Sharks feel around at least partially. 

And, most importantly, no more baby 💩 yellow anywhere but the logo! That’s by far the best part. It’s still on the hangar effect, which is dumb, but if they insist on keeping it, at least  hide it as completely as you can. 
 

Damn, I may have to break my rule and get a Sharks jersey this year

 

EDIT: I have no idea why the boards keep spacing out the words randomly in my posts, then just deleting them altogether. That’s annoying as all hell.

The Oilers were also one of the few teams last season that didn't use a helmet sponsor. They will have one for 2022-23, though (Skip the Dishes on the roads).
