Dynasty
I can't find a valid link for it, but I thought I remember seeing a stat of the Red Sox a while back, citing their tenure since 2003. I think it said they have spent the most money through payroll in the league since then, even more than the Yankees or Dodgers and I think I believe it. They've had a lot of star players play for them in the 2000's and 2010's, half of them performing well and the other being complete duds. It shows just how much money the team has had, but I think everyone knew that part. Still, it's a good summary of the team in the new millennia. Very up and down, but their money and spending at least made things happen for them. Four World Series titles out of all of it is pretty hard to argue against or complain about. All that's missing is a 2003 Tigers/2018 Orioles type season. They didn’t sustain it quite as long, but the Giants mini run in the early 2010s was somewhat similar. Titles in 10, 12, and 14, and missed the playoffs completely in 09, 11, 13, and 15. Quote On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) They seem to be settling in now, though, to one of those classic middle-ground filler teams. .500 records, the occasional appearance in an ALCS (but getting killed there), there's always next year. Which is a pretty wild place to voluntarily put yourself when you're the most successful team of the millennium and you charge the highest prices to your fans in the entire league, but I don't know how else to interpret the direction of the franchise. John Henry has won enough to no longer care about winning. It's solely profits at this point - and it's a business so I get it. But he's well aware people will still watch, and still go to the games regardless of how good or not good the team is. 4 championships for the freakin' Red Sox in 20 years is incredible, but when you zoom out and really look at the resume it's pretty bad. He burns through GM's every 4 years, which if you catch fire is great (and they have), but it leaves the team as a whole with little to no direction long-term. There's no true plan for sustained success. I also signed off during the Bobby Valentine season and have struggled to care since then. Even in 2013 with all that was happening in the city, and as joyous as the WS should've been for me, I was disconnected from it - still left with a bad taste from the Inventor or the Wrap (TM). Moving to Denver last year, and San Diego next summer I'll be on the Padres train listening to Don Orsillo nightly while drifting even further from whatever the hell Henry & Co. are doing. Don Orsillo and an ambitious club befitting the market? Truly the nice-weather throwback version to the halcyon days of Red Sox baseball. Red Comet
Whit Merrifield gets vaccinated for a contender like he said he would. Stupid thing to say, but I honestly don’t blame his lack of a belief in the Royals. After all, they seem to be committed to winning as much as the Reds, A’s and Nationals are.
Kooky01
Well, the good news is that the Yankees lost at least 2 outta 3 to the Cardinals. Bad news is that the Astros look like crap. GG Cleveland

Germanshepherd
6-11 for the Yanks in the second half of the season. It’s getting really hard to not to hit the panic button over here. Only thing I can say is that a lot of these games have been winnable but the team just failed to make the one or two extra plays needed to close it out, but that’s only a relief if it flips back soon. DoctorWhom
Yankees are learning the hard way, it's not how you start. it's how you finish. They overachieved immensely at the start of the season, it was only a matter of time before crashed back down to earth. Blue Jays are only 9 back for the division as well. If Yankees don't shape up soon, they could have a race on their hands.
Dynasty
Being neck and neck with the Cardinals going down the stretch will haunt the Brewers. Milwaukee needs to have at least a ten game lead ahead of them in the division in order to feel remotely safe. I know how this will play out. Partycrasher
kinda wish deGrom coulda gotten his no-hitter, or at least be part of a combined one, but I can't complain at all about a 4-1 series win over the Braves. maybe now their fans will shut up for a while. They traded one of the best closers in the game and the players were not happy, and didn't really add anything. They've since lost 5 of 6 to the Pirates and Reds. Yeah in the time I lived out there the lengths I had to go to watch the home team were incredibly frustrating. I paid the sub fees to MLB.tv watch the Reds, but M's games were blacked out. My cable package didn't have ROOT. The 30ish games I attended were the only 30ish times I watched a Mariners game, save for the few I caught in a bar. I cannot believe that's still happening there.
