2022-23 NHL Season

Ten-year-old me would have laughed at the idea of a final four from North Carolina, Florida, Texas, and Nevada.

But here we are.  I kinda hope Vegas just gets it done.  It’s going to happen sooner or later.

Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse."

Knowing how the Sea-Dal series has gone, I would not be surprised if Seattle makes it a game seven.

I moved to the area in 2014 and it was a good fanbase, but tickets could be had for $30-$50 in the secondary market depending on opponent and day of the week. After the Finals appearance? It was like $90 per ticket for a Tuesday night game.

It's a bad thing that regular fans could go to the SCF instead of rich people with $500+ to blow?

The Leafs fanbase is more than deserving of tasting the fruits of success,

The Leafs fanbase is the reason why so many people dislike the Leafs. The entitlement mentality after having one playoff series win in 20 years is why they aren't deserving. Every time a call goes against the Leafs, it's because it's a league conspiracy. The league is conspiring to keep the Leafs away from the Cup.

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions)

King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)

Not a conspiracy, but you gotta admit that OT goal there was a missed stick infraction.

When the Leafs finally won a playoff round

Kind of like when the Cubs finally won a World Series after a century long drought

What an accomplishment! I hope Toronto hangs a banner.

I was referring to regular season games for the Predators - I should have specified. Pre-SCF regular season tickets were relatively cheap and easy to acquire if you wanted to go. Post-SCF the Predators became the hot item, and regular season tickets were much harder to come by. Prices more than doubled compared to years past and their games sold out on a regular basis.

Maybe it's just me -- but TNT's hockey coverage compared to ESPN's are night and day. TNT blows away ESPN in almost every aspect, in-game and in studio.

With the exception of Mike Breen, that's true for basketball too.

ESPN's coverage of both leagues is a disgrace. Turner has better talent behind the scenes and on camera in literally every position. Their broadcasts look better and they sound better. We're all losers when TNT airs their last NBA game of the season; at least they get the SCF in alternating years, this year being one of them, so there's that.

The culture at Turner and Time Warner had never been "well, let's just churn out some acceptable crap," though with Discovery, that may be changing. I think ESPN has been happy to coast on being ESPN for a very long time. To be honest, I don't think they ever quite got the NBA down.

ESPN pays so much for rights fees for all the properties they air they can't do anything more than the bare minimum. And they rehash the same thing five different ways because they can't risk putting something against their own big name property they're paying for. All 22, in Spanish, Through a Dirty Fish Tank, in Black and White... Just turn to the ESPN the Ocho for that.

I'm also betting a particular subset of fans across multiple fanbases are frothing at the mouth in rage at the Panthers and Hurricanes being an ECF, calling it"Bettman-rigged" even though it makes no sense to rig it so Toronto doesn't go to the ECF lmao

I honestly wonder how we'd be viewing things if let's say Buffalo (who had as many wins as FLA and 1 less point) had been the one to not only knock out BOS/TOR, but while ending their playoff drought. Like what is the viewpoint from other fanbases if it was the Sabres rather than the Panthers?
