The names. Why do they all sound like generic 90s era avalanche knock offs. Blizzard and Fury are Dairy Queen and McDonalds ice cream treats. Yetis is literally the Avalanches old shoulder patch. The team is even in the same division. All the names registered suck.

Pick two colors and white for the jersey and maybe add more for the logo. Purple and white on its own as a base would make a solid uniform.

Outlaws is minor league. It's a common minor league name and tonnes of these teams have folded.

Good point .  It still sounds better than anything else proposed thus far.

I don't think a Wild West kind of name would be out of the question though. However, the color schemes I tend to think of with regards to that theme is red, black, and/or sand... which I personally don't want to see.

I will accept the Yeti name on the condition that the aesthetics lean into the ski/winter sports styles of the late 80's and early 90's.
That means the Yeti will need to be in a cool pair of polarized sunglasses

and that the color scheme will be

Ryan Smith gets his highlighter color. Fans get a local culture connection. Kids get a silly name. Hockey purists get to choke on their tongues at the utter steeziness of it all. Win-Win-Win-Win.

Oh great. These are all terrible. And you know that the very worst one of them all, Yetis, is ABSOLUTELY going to win in a landslide.

This league is a perpetually unserious joke.

I'm getting some serious 1998 Jacksonville Lizard Kings vibes from this colorway...

(Yes, these were real, and yes, they were really worn on the ice. But good luck finding any on-ice photos of that '98 black alternate, my favorite JLK sweater and one of my favorite hockey sweaters of all time, period.)

I really don't understand this take. You don't like the  Yeti's so the entire league is a joke?  I'm going to trust the process here, since the last two new identities in the league (VGK and the Kraken) were a complete success both from a branding standpoint as well as a uniform.

I'm not sure why it would be so absurd for a team to choose a name that is extremely popular in their new city. Why would they not choose it honestly if it is that popular?  Why give people that will buy tickets, merch, etc the middle finger before the team even touches the ice? Especially a franchise that has been playing in front of 5,000 people the last couple of years.

All I'm saying is that if I was the new owner of that team, I would feed the frenzy as much as possible.

Smith learned from his mistakes with the Jazz branding. He has said that he has a personal favourite name, but he's going to leave it up to the fans this time. Yetis seems to be gaining the kind of momentum Kraken had during Seattle's expansion process, so I'd say it's probably the favourite, but not because of Smith. You think he was paying kids to chant "let's go Yetis" at the airport?

Some people seem to have an irrational hate for the NHL, and decide to make anything fit that narrative. Despite a few cheesy names like Wild & Kraken, the NHL has the best all-around branding among the Big 4.

Spot on.

I recall thinking the Kraken name was embarrassing until I saw how it was displayed as part of a visual identity and it completely changed my mind about the name. The name is only one part of an identity package. The visuals can, and should, elevate it. Too early to dismiss the options now. The Kraken example should have taught us that.

Seriously, it's baffling. "Utah Yeti it's almost a rhyme hehehehehehe." What are you people, kindergartners?

I've got a dribbble, check it out if you like my stuff; alternatively, if you hate my stuff, send it to your enemies to punish their insolence!
