BlueSky
Jason David is still a Saint, but frustrated fans won't be able to rag on #42 any more for getting smoked in pass coverage. We'll have to rag on #29 now. Darren Sharper, the newly signed ex-Vikes safety, says he and David 'reached an agreement' under which Sharper gets to wear his customary #42 while David took the departed Josh Bullocks' #29. Ironically, since there's a logjam at Sharper's position now (CB Usama Young is moving to safety, #1 draft choice Malcolm Jenkins may end up there, and they also drafted Wake Forest safety Chip Vaughn) there's speculation that Sharper may end up the odd man out. Hope he didn't give up too much for his old number. In fairness to Jason David, yes, he's been toasted again and again but he's also the only DB besides Mike McKenzie who ever makes a play. And his 'Carlton dance' after an INT vs. Atlanta last year was
BlueSky
Knowshon Moreno is going to wear Darrent Williams' number 27.StoryI like this story and I think it is a very classy move by all.Agreed. Hats off to the Broncos for respecting the Williams family and to them for proposing a win-win solution.

-(dp)-
Welcome home, Larry!Larry Foote will sign with Detroit tomorrow, and agreed to the deal tonight, after being cut yesterday. I think maybe the Lions knew what they were doing in not drafting an MLB early in the draft this year. He had said months ago he would like to play for Detroit. The LB corps of Ernie Sims - Larry Foote - Julian Peterson is a huge upgrade over last year. Ernie may be the third best LB on the team this year, when he was the best they had last year. FiddySicks
Ok so I'll just say this as someone who either cant stand, or really could care less about either the Packers, Jets, or Vikings. If Brett Favre comes back and plays with Minnesota, he will forever cement himself as the biggest bitch to ever play professional sports. To stick it to a community that puts you above Jesus, just to prove something to one man is beyond petty. If Favre signs, will Green Bay tear down all the accolades they've erected in his honor? I would.

FiddySicks
If I were the Packers I'd be breathing a pretty big sigh of relief right now. I'd then go out and assign the number 4 to the long snapper. Shumway
I love the heart here, and I do have some hopes for this season, but really, playoffs? On his personal blog, Smith34.com, Detroit Lions running back Kevin Smith(notes) predicted, no wait, promised the Lions will make the NFL Playoffs in 2009. It makes you wonder, did he watch the video tape?"I won't make a prediction about how many games we're going to win, but I will say this: We will definitely make the playoffs this season."Believe it or not we weren't far off last year. Almost every game we could have won, we were one play or one player short. Except for Tennessee on Thanksgiving, they just came out and beat us to sleep. They manhandled us, but nobody else did.''The Lions weren't far off? They were 0-16.

HedleyLamarr
Time to defend one of my (fantasy) players:What else do Lions fans want to hear Kevin Smith say? "We're gonna suck mightily, but please buy Lions tickets despite most of you folks losing jobs!"?I'm not saying the Lions are heading to the playoffs, but did anyone expect the 1-15 Dolphins to make the playoffs the next season, or the 16-0 Patriots to not make the playoffs the following year?Plus, the Lions are in a division that was relatively weak in 2008. A 9-7 record very well could win the NFC North.

Granted, this time he ain't HC, but, still...he also engineered the cowboy's revival. Prior to him showing up, the team was stacked with bust after bust after busts and players that are no longer in the league. They had 3 consecutive years of 5-11. He was able to take said team with Q and lead them to the playoffs. Granted they have flopped in the winter but they are on a much better path now than where they were during the jerry/campo clown show years. Spoilers!
