Ha! Reggie Ball was my favorite Yellow Jacket.

Only cause he threw the ball to UGA a lot.

It's really bad that my lasting image of Reggie Ball as GT's QB was him throwing the ball away on 4th down because he thought that it was 3rd down on the final play of his final game against UGA.

Had no idea Reggie Ball had landed with the Lions (or anywhere else in the NFL for that matter). There's your Wildcat guy right there. For those not familiar, Reggie was a QB at Georgia Tech.

Except Reggie, well, sucked at QB.

How do you think Calvin Johnson feels? The guy that held him back at Tech tried out as a kick returner for the Lions and apparently has stuck around and calls himself a receiver now. Calvin just can't get rid of that guy.....

The Falcons officially kick off the Vick "Sweepstakes."

"With regards to Michael Vick, we’ve decided to seek a trade of his contractual rights to another NFL club. We took a number of steps in the 2008 season, including using our first pick to draft a quarterback. We feel a trade is the best move for the Falcons, and it’s also in the best interest of Michael. This has been a really unique situation from a variety of standpoints and because we will actively be involved in a trade situation, I don’t envision our organization speaking any more about this subject publicly until it’s reached a resolution.” - Thomas Dimitroff

Let's just fleece the Raiders or Cowboys for some draft picks, eh?

No thanks. Dallas has enough issues.

Marshawn Lynch was arrested for having a concealed firearm. He was charged with two felonies.

At least he didn't shoot himself.

This just fresh off the wire:

The Jacksonville Jaguars have released RB Fred Taylor.

Man...talk about a hard pill to swallow. From reading the article, I saw no signs of ill will on either side...looked as if it was purely a football decision. Still, it's hard to see any team legend (or about as much a team legend as a 14-year-old football team can have) exit stage right. But, I will say this, as a devout supporter of the Florida State Seminoles: I have had the utmost respect for Fred Taylor and his game over the past 11 years. (I say that because Taylor is an alum of the archrival Florida Gators.) I, for one, certainly do wish him well in his future endeavors moving forward.

This now makes MJD32 "the man", for all intents and purposes, down in Duval. (And maybe, just maybe, I'll start to see a bit more production out of my boy Greg Jones down there in J'ville...)

It seems like every mock draft I've seen recently has the Lions picking Stafford. A few weeks ago, seemingly every one had Andre Smith going to Detroit at #1. I'd be fine with either, but I think addressing the line is more important than a young QB that'll more than likely end up in Harrington-ville. I do, however, like that Laurinaitis is picked to land in Detroit at #20. I'd buy a Roadwarrior Animal Jr. jersey in a second.

It's a sad day for Saints fans even though we knew it was coming. They've officially released Deuce McAllister. Deuce was a warrior on the field and a class act off it. I understand players come and go and there are few I actually miss but Deuce will be one of them.

I've often wondered, does Keion Carpenter still have an imprint of Deuce's helmet on his chest? cool.gif

I'm not even convinced with Smith with number 1

That's because those so-called "draft experts" have fanatical wet dreams. Many fans do, as well (of all teams, not just the Lions). Look...Culpepper ain't the best QB in the world, but at least he's somewhat serviceable. Why don't the Lions try to build inside out? Sure, "sexy" picks and skill-position offensive players put fans in seats...but far too often too many fans are out of touch with how a successful team should be built...from the inside out, on both sides. Get a good line, and even a half-decent QB can make some plays. It's all about pass protection and TIME. Same on the defensive side...get a good D-line that can run-stuff and get a good pass rush, and watch your 'backers (and safeties) make some plays. Helps out the CBs, too.

Look at Cleveland...how has Joe Thomas worked out for them? Just one example I can think of.

Knock yourself out. Eugene Monroe's probably a better pro prospect anyway. :P

/Would be happy with any of the big 3 or 4 offensive tackles, and hopes the Rams don't take Crabtree.

Exactly. That's why I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping my beloved Bengals do the right thing this year.

Exactly. That's why I want the Lions to take Stafford. My Rams need Smith. Screw Detroit. They already suck worse than anybody's ever sucked before. They can't get any worse, so why not hope my team gets better?

Jason Hanson has signed to stay on with Detroit for another four years.

It must be all about the money for this guy, 'cause I don't see the Lions winning a championship anytime ever.

I think even the best kickers have the least job security in the league. They're basically treated as easily replaceable scrubs. If I'm a kicker I'm taking the cash, especially if it's from a :censored:ty team. Because nobody is paying attention to you anyway.
