For the most part, I agree with Paul. The Lions uniforms are circling the drain at a time when it would've been nice to return to their roots. I guess we'll have to wait another few years.

I don't mind the black trim at all, now that the Lions have actually figured out how to use it properly. This set has its flaws, yes, but it's an improvement over what they previously wore, and I don't get the hate. All I can figure is that Paul must be part of the group that sports a Cialis-style boner every time he sees the Lions' terrible throwback/practice uniforms, and won't settle for anything else than a return to utter drabness.

For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. Thats what it looks like to me. Also the flair around the tip of the beak is just flair that fleur de lis have sometimes source I am from NOLA.

This.

The blue, silver, and black scheme is a good one. The last uniforms were a mess, not because they contained black, but because they added black without bothering to integrate it into the uniforms. Now the black is integrated and it looks much better.

The only thing I don't care for is the number font. A simpler, modified version of the traditional block font would have done wonders here.

I don't get the hate for the wordmark. At least it's not a generic Broncos/Falcons/Bengals/Seahawks/Texans/nu Jaguars copy. On top of that, I really don't see how it's any worse then Minnesota's classic wordmark. The difference of course is that Minnesota's has tradition behind it. Objectively I don't think the Lions' wordmark is any goofier then the Vikings'.

Ya, needed better stripes.

"There are about three people in the entire country who like all the black trim on the Lions' uniforms."

And there are about three hundred million who don't give a :censored:. Honestly, it's black trim.

Did it ever cross your mind that the only people who will read that quote are people who either

1. Intentionally navigate to Uniwatch... a blog dedicated to all aspects of uniforms... including trim

2. Readers of this board, a site dedicated to logos and uniforms, where we debate things as seemingly silly as raglan vs. set-in sleeve stitching.

If that's how you feel, I suggest you leave and start posting on a board that is frequented by the "three hundred million who don't give a :censored: "

Need more black

I'm sure we're only a year away from black alternate uniforms for the Lions -- not that I'm looking forward seeing to those. Detroit's previous alts were quite bad.

I hope not. I like their throwback alts, which makes two reasons why I don't want them to pick up a black jersey.

Yeah! If you can't discuss black trim with the same irrational enthusiasm some of the regulars here post with, well maybe it's just a little too intense around here for you!

Lions draft hat with new logo

259_large5.jpg

the raised stitching gives the logo a great quality. If they could take some of the highlights from that and transfer it to the logo, it would make a big difference. Subtle detail that is not too jumbled, and enhances the overall look.

...i may have to play around with this... TO ILLUSTRATOR!

The embroidery gives it even greater depth and effect in the mane and torso. JQK hit the nail on the head, as usual.

Dr. Kelso: My son is a big baseball fan. Not so much playing it, but more the designing and sewing of uniforms.

Tyler: That's neat.

Dr. Kelso: No, it's not.
