Speaking now seriously...

I'm very, very happy with the Giants. Hope they will win tomorrow.

When I was very young I bought a mammoth baseball book. Through it, I discovered the likes of Christy Mathewson, McGraw, Larry Doyle (yes, the guy that coined "it's great to be young and a Giant"), Mel Ott, Monte Irvin and Willie Mays among others... they were the New York Giants. Ah, those beautiful NY uniforms and caps...!!!

And I also found those first World Series won by the Red Sox, Ted Williams, Yaz, the Impossible Dream, 1975...

Well I made myself a fan of the BoSox and the NY/SF Giants.

And it's a lifetime dream watching my two beloved teams winning the World Series... the Red Sox did it in 2004 and 2007 (in the first of them, I cried as a baby; I was 33 years old)... and the Giants... well, let's see what will happen tomorrow.

Ah, a curious thing: in the last days of the season when the Giants didn't clinch yet the division title, I started reading a wonderful book called "The First Fall Classic" by Mike Vaccaro. It tells the 1912 World Series (98 years ago) between my favorite teams.

Well, the Giants finished the Padres to overtake the division, eliminated the Braves and won the NL Pennant. Now they are cruising the World Series.

And I didn't end yet the book. ^_^

You know what I always think back to during this run the Giants are having? Last month during Ken Burns' "Baseball: The Tenth Inning", the columnist from San Francisco who was talking about how someday the Giants will win a World Series in SF after talking about the 2002 heartbreak. Funny how that's a game away from actually happening

This, people, may look like an extraordinary city on the American west coast.

In reality though, at least now, it is literaly an emotional powder keg ready to go off like it has never gone off before. Yes, this city has seen its NFL team bring home five super bowl trophies before. However, this run by the Giants is proving much bigger than even that first 49ers super bowl win back in January of 1982.

Let me put this into perspective for those who don't live out here, or don't pay much attention to west coast teams in general. This is a franchise that is regarded as one of the most storied in North American sports. Just in the San Francisco era alone, some of the greatest players of all time put on the San Francisco Giants uniform. We are talking about Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, Juan Marichal, Gaylord Perry, Orlando Cepeda, Barry Bonds....record holders, countless MVPs, rookies of the year, and even a few CY Young winners. Yet despite all this prestige, all these great names, NO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP in the San Francisco era. This in many ways is akin to what Boston experienced back in 2004. It is THAT BIG A DEAL.

There is one more game to go, nothing is guaranteed here (again, Boston knows about this), but Giants fans gotta feel good about how things have gone so far. The fuse is lit on this powder keg, and I can't wait until it blows.

Bumgarner. When he first got called up, it was on rather short notice against the Red Sox, and people were lamenting how they were throwing a rookie against that vaunted lineup. Well now he has haunted this game, baby.

Damn straight. To take a page out to Tank's joke book, Bumgarner totally carved up the Rangers tonight! ;)

I already ordered the DVD... I think it will arrive in those days.

And about 2002... what a pain I had eight years ago.

Game 1: I called it a fluke. Lee had barely ever been touched in the postseason, let alone beaten like J-Lo in "Enough"

Game 2: I thought it was another fluke. 'Pen had been solid all season.

Game 3: Win

Game 4: Starting to see a trend here.

Hindsight is 20/20. After winning the ALCS in orgasmic fashion (I'll explain the wording in a bit), the Rangers were almost due for a letdown.

I say orgasmic because, frankly, Texas put everything into just GETTING to the Series and is now in that "afterwards" period. Sigh.

That, and my Rangers seriously need a new 3rd baseman. Please make Michael Young a DH. He doesn't have range anymore.

The finish line is in sight; lets do it tomorrow! Its weird because they are so close yet still far away from the prize it seems like. This will be Northern California's first title since the 49ers clobbered San Diego in '95.

There are still games to play folks. Let's not start sizing the Giants for those rings just yet.

True. As we've seen before, ANYTHING can happen in baseball. However, if the Rangers want to win this thing, they'll definitely will have to earn it. Texas will have to go through Tim Lincecum (who, granted, has been human in his last several appearances) and Matt Cain (who's been lights out). If the Rangers can run the gauntlet, then they will rightfully deserve to be called World Champions.

Don't care, I just want them to win. Tomorrow would be a GREAT day for them to win it all.

Ok Giant fans all of you one question.

Do you really want to win it in Arlington, or would you rather see them celebrate at AT&T?

Since as a Red Sox fan, I didn't mind if BoSox won it all in 2004 and 2007 both times at road so as a Giants fan, I want to close it as soon as possible.

But, yes, don't count your chickens before they hatch so let's play and try it.

Not a Giants fan, but I would imagine the way it works is that if the Giants win game 5, the go nuts, and if they lose, shrug there shoulders and go 'well at least we can win it in San Fran.' So it takes the pressure off the Giants.

I wonder why Bud Selig is using baseball's grand stage to say he supports a 2nd wild card, other than maybe it's the time he thinks people will truly listen. It just seems to upstage things at the same time.

That said, they're already paying 2nd place teams not to play, so adding two more into the post-season and increasing the pot they all have to dip from seems sensible. I'm thinking it'll just be a one-game wild card playoff.

Yeah so have I. Marcos Breton is his name. If the Giants finish this thing, I'd like to read his thoughts on the whole experience. It will be interesting.

Personally, I'd rather have the Giants win it at home. However, Lee and Lincecum are pitching tonight. If Lee has another bad night, then it's adios Texas!
