Derek Jeter is a GIDP machine. Whenever he's up and there's a man on first I've pretty much come to expect a ground ball to second or short. I'm in the minority amongst the Yankees fan base but I can't stand Jeter anymore. He's the antithesis of "Captain Clutch".

Trying to hit people is the lamest crap. I wasn't aware that the Giants became the Cardinals.

Not to worry, it doesn't even matter. The Giants can't hit s**t right now, even when they throw the ball.

This trade for Beltran is paying off swimmingly for the Giants. It's even better than the AJ Pierzynski trade. <_<

Seriously, tonight someone struck out swinging at a pitch which almost hit his back foot. On the last out Cabrera swings at one at least a foot outside for strike three. When it rains it pours I guess. :(

Looks like Zambrano has finally lost it. After being ejected for throwing at Chipper, he cleaned out his locker and told his teammates he is possibly retiring.

If thats the way he wants to go out then Good Riddance. Just cause you don't have your stuff and your getting shelled doesn't mean you throw at a respected player like that.

Good thing we didn't have Detroit's umpires like we did last night. We actually got a chance to come back!

What really gets me is the "great fan" stuff. It's sad to think of our country as a "Steeler Nation", because that would mean that we're a country of near-sighted inbreds from the mountains that can't speak competent English.

Let's go Brownies!

What a baby. He quit on his team. Not only leaving the locker room after a game that he blew, but throwing at Chipper Jones just to get out of the game. Please tell me the retirement is legit. I can't stand this guy. Just listing a few of his other incedents I know he drove Michael Barret and Derek Lee out of town after feuding with them, called the cubs a AAA team, and destroyed a cooler... what a guy!

I'm really hoping he follows through on his retirement promise just so I don't have to hear about him again.

He just seems to represent everything that's wrong with pro athletes. Major anger problems. Can't handle criticism from fans, but has no problem handling a paycheck, stopped caring once he started getting bigger paychecks, huge amount of wasted talent and seems to show no appreciation over the fact that he's getting paid millions of dollars for playing a game. He's turned into a Major League baseball player that doesen't like baseball.

It may have just gotten to the point though where the Cubs may pay him just to stay at home. I think even the bigggest Zambrano supporter in the world would have to say by now that he's a lost cause.

Why should they pay him to stay at home? If he's going to be a pouty-pants and stop showing up to work, can't they just disqualify him?

I'm sure they'll try, but even if they can't get any money back they may just say screw it and release him. I can't see anyone else signing him either and if they do sign him it won't be for anything more then the veteran minimum, which I doubt he'll take.

Bam! Big Z on the disqualified list!. I was hoping they'd do this.

I definately think Friday night was the last straw. No matter what I believe Carlos Zambrano has played his final game for the Chicago Cubs. The only question now is how much of Zambrano's salary will the Cubs have to pay.

Zambrano may have also screwed himself out of a few million dollars. I think his plan was to play out the remainder of his contract which I think has two years left and then retire. But the fact that he said I quit may have let the Cubs off the hook. If that's true they have a verbal statement from him in which he basically voids his contract.

Whether or not that will hold up in arbitration court (which this will ultimately wind up going to) remains to be seen, but I gotta think it has to have some impact. At best I'd say it would be viewed as conduct detrimental to the team which will cost him a good part of his salary and at worse what I mentioned earlier. He agreed to void his contract in a verbal statement which may or may not be treated as the same as a written statement. The fact that he's said a few times that he's been planning on retiring soon won't help his case either.
