2011 NFL Draft

I'm pretty jazzed about the Saints' draft so far. Cameron Jordan and Mark Ingram will make their sides of the ball better immediately.

They also have a damn good track record with 3rd round+ picks (Jahri Evans, Marques Colston et al). Check out their first 3rd-rounder...Martez Wilson of Illinois. Have to admit, in game pics he looks more like a safety than an LB, but he's 6-4 and 250 and ran a freakin' 4.49 at the combine, fastest of all LBs.

I thought the exact same thing about Wilson. I watched the guy every week and somehow still thought he was small for a linebacker. I thought it was a bad decision for Wilson to come out early, but his prospects as an NFL player have been rising slightly since then. The Saints may have gotten themselves a very solid linebacker. And the Saints have had a solid collection of Illinois players for the past few years.

You know, I really enjoy that you're as big of a Bucs fan as I am. You sum up how I feel almost every time without me having to actually type it out. Thanks for making my job easier :P

Tell you what, I'll make a deal with you. You're a Buccaneer fan way the hell out there; I'm a Florida native. I'm not really all that big a baseball guy, nor do I really have a "favorite" team...but I've been thinking of finding a team fanbase to latch onto. You're a Giants fan from the left coast; I'm from the other side. What's up?? :P

You'd be making a wise decision to be a Giants fan. Most fun you'll ever have searching the Internet far and wide for shaky Internet broadcasts of their games and/or just praying they're on the national broadcast, just as I do with the Bucs. But when you do find one, Krup and Kuip will make it all worth it. In the mean time, I'll keep you filled in.

Yes, including Pierre Thomas, one of my favorite Saints of all time and one of the most underrated players in the league...

Vikings take Christian Ballard over Da'Quan Bowers. I don't know what they are doing this year. They have wasted all 3 picks this year.

Dude. Bowers went to Tampa Bay at 50, Christian Ballard is a good player.

Damn Eagles snapped up Casey Matthews I was hoping he'd be around to join his Brother :P

Rats I was hoping Matthews would last awhile longer.

Same for McCarthey, but oh well. I hope some of the better LB prospects linger for the Bears in round 5.

I know but they could have had Bowers instead of the Tight End. My point is that if they wanted a DE/DT they should have taken Bowers instead of waiting till the 4th round.

Nathan Enderle? Guy sounds like a very, very poor man's Kyle Orton.

The guy tore up the WAC, but that doesn't count for much. His combine numbers were absolutely horrible. Last in the 40, 3 cone drill, shuttle, and broad jump. I'm generally not a fan of players that I'm faster than either, but Tom Bady turned out okay.

EDIT: That's not supposed to be a comparison of his potential to Brady. At all.

Assuming that the season will start on time, here are some possible outcomes for Enderle:

A. He does pretty well in pre-season, gets the 3rd string quarterback job.

B. He does really good in pre-season, gets the 2rd string quarterback job.

The next two are more likely:

C. He pulls a LeFevour (plays awful in pre-season) and gets traded somewhere to be a 3rd string, 4th string, or practice squad QB.

D. He plays pretty bad (not as bad as LeFevour did last year, however) and gets practice squad duties.

SO HAPPY with the Redskins draft so far.

Kerrigan, Jenkins, Henkerson with

TEN picks tomorrow.

And the team still does not have a QB. Plus, whomever they get around to signing will be the worst one in the division.

"I think you guys asked me initially, how long it takes to learn a system and I told you two to three years. I believe that was in our first press conference we had. It does take a while before things become automatic. It doesn't happen overnight ... I've been pleased in a lot of areas and we've just got to keep working."

-Mike Shannahan (during the 2010 season)

So John Beck, who is already 29, is going to be the starter behind that OL? Will the free agent pool of QBs have as much time as McNabb did to learn this system so complicated that even the coach says it takes seasons to learn?

I'm surprised anyone picked him. Horrible vision, horrible awareness, horrible decision-making. He flung the ball around like he thought he was Brett Favre or something and routinely threw into double-coverage. And to put the cherry on the top of the :censored: sundae, he's a Vandal. B)

And to round out the 2011 NFL Draft. The most important pick.......

At pick #254 The Houston Texans select...

Cheta Ozougwu DL 6'2" 247 out of Rice University.

Making him this year's "Mr. Irrelevant."

To round out this draft for the team that I root for. I give the Packers a grade of a B+. The first 3 picks were outstanding. They made some pretty good selections in the 4th and 5th. And basically rounded out the roster in the latter rounds. They filled some holes nicely with some good back up scenarios. They added some good depth and guys that are going to make an immediate impact if the season ever comes.

Remember that Payton attended Eastern Illinois which is less than an hour from Champaign so with his roots there, he has more people to get information from regarding talent.

Ravens' draft looking good again, a steal in the first round because everyone in the NFL is scared of alcohol :P Then Torrey Smith who could be either a DeSean Jackson type player or a Heyward-Bey, only time will tell. An OT in Jah Reid who can come in and start right away.

Finally Tyrod Taylor, lol.

Other than the steep price for Julio Jones, I'm pretty happy with the Falcons draft. Dimitroff & Smith both stated that their goal during the offseason was to make the offense more explosive, and they've taken strides towards that goal w/ a few picks in this draft. Julio Jones is a stud & is gonna give Matt Ryan yet another weapon, & Jacquizz Rodgers should step into Jerious Norwood's role of lightning to Michael Turner's thunder. Talk about explosive, those are two guys with big play potential right there. Akeem Dent was solid @ UGA & should be a very viable replacement for Mike Peterson. The other 3 picks were solid as well (even the punter, which made me mad at first since they passed on Virgil Green, but since it's come out that Green is damaged goods, I'm kinda happy that the Falcons addressed what could be a need at that position.).

So yeah, I'm definitely pleased with the Falcons picks, despite the price of Julio Jones. But hey, if they can find a way to shore up the defense via free agency, all will be forgiven on that front. Considering who the GM is, I 100% trust the guy to get the job done. And so ends my opinion on the Falcons' draft, which I'm sure only about 4 or 5 of you care about. How about Ponder going to Minnesota in the 1st, though?!

That's comforting, haha!

I hope the bears learned their lesson from last year with LeFevour. Even if the guy blows in preseason, simple fact is he's not Todd Collins, which already makes him a fine choice for emergency QB.
