2011 NFL Draft

The Cardinals took Patrick Peterson

Unless they can get a good QB in free agency, this could be a dangerous pick.

With trading opening today, the Cardinals are expected to trade their second round pick this year for Kevin Kolb. I think taking Patrick Peterson was a great pick, something to compliment DRC as another Corner.

I don't know anything, but I'd be surprised (but not shocked) if this happened. Reputable sources have stated that the Eagles somehow got first-round offers for Kolb, and that if they were allowed, they would have traded him before yesterday's picks. Unless there's some "wink wink" thing going on and some team made their first round pick for the Eagles, I wouldn't expect him to be traded for any 2011 picks if they could still talk someone into giving them a 2012 first rounder. The Eagles have shown in the past that they're stubborn enough to hold on to someone if they don't think that they're getting exactly what they think he's worth back, even if it means losing him for nothing.

Of course my opinion has always been to keep him because despite everything great that he did on and off the field last year, the fact is still that Vick is thisclose away to being kicked out of the league for life, and then the Eagles would be screwed. When it comes to a franchise QB, I'd rather go with the sure thing then the flashy risk.

From what i've been hearing people in Phoenix(KTAR, XTRA 910, KNXV Channel 15) is this has been a done deal before the lockout, but because of the lockout there can be no trades. But since teams can now start trading players this is expected to be a done deal before the day.

If that's the case, then the Cardinals are making a great deal for themselves.

I hope so they need a franchise QB and I think he will be that guy. I think the Eagles are fooling themselves as well because Vick is on a thin string with the NFL and if he is kicked out again, or any significant injury and they'll be screwed. May as well go with Mallett if that's the case

Um. I love it.

To get his best talent on the field, Schwartz will have to pioneer a "9-1-1" defense. We have to be about 9 deep on the line now, and our linebacker corps consists of DeAndre Levy and secondary consists of Louis Delmas. (And maybe Alphonso Smith)

Hopefully a solid corner is available in the second, like Harris.

It won't be as difficult as you think.

You could go something like this on first down:

Avril - Suh - Williams - Vanden Bosch

This on short yardage:

Suh - Williams - SL Hill - Fairley

And this on passing downs:

Avril - Suh - Fairley - LoJack

The constant rotation of that line and keeping everyone fresh will be scary.

Weird trade between ATL and CLE. They must have really like Julio Jones, because they gave up a lot.

Holy Ricky Williams, Batman. Seriously, five picks for one guy (1,2,4 this year, 1 and 4 next year)? I mean, was anyone at all saying, "Wow, the Packers really beat the s*** out of the Falcons in the playoffs. If only Atlanta had one more great wide receiver..." IMO it's tough to argue that any one player is worth that much, especially a WR. The Falcons' greatest need is clearly on defense so this move is almost a shocker to me.

Yeah, me too.

This reads more like a face-saving move, making a splash while ignoring the real problems they have.

with Buffalo taking a DB, I think Dalton is a solid bet for Cincinnati's pick

Nailed it! Cincy snags Dalton #35.

All I heard about from mocks and local newspapers, I felt it was almost guaranteed that the Bengals would get Green & Dalton. I'm eager to see what the team does with its third round pick.

Also, probably a day early, but keep an eye on these guys (most likely on Sunday): WR's Greg Salas (Hawai'i) and Armon Binns (Cincinnati). I think they'll be productive in the NFL, especially given their draft positions.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kaepernick drafted! Franchise QB right there! 49ers FTW!!!!

I'm not a Niners fan, but around this area they're really popular. As a huge Wolfpack fan I just jumped to my feet and cheered when they announced that. That just tickles me to know that Kaepernick went to Reno's "local" team.

/sarcasm .....Right?

Not sarcasm, but I was partially making fun of myself. I do think Kaepernick will eventually lead the Niners to the playoffs, but he's probably no Montana or Young.

You would think the Cowboys would have someone who they actually drafted announced their pick. Charles Haley really must hate the 49ers and probably will go into the HOF as a Cowboy.

Also way to go Colin Kaepernick. Always great to see a Wolf Pack player get drafted.

Agreed. I missed the Kaepernick pick -- Who announced it for the 49ers?

Texans with Watt and Reed are having a very solid draft, high motor defensive guys to make some people scared. Need some help in pass defense.
