Damn Scariest Line in the NFL

RE - Da'Quan Bowers

DT - Gerald McCoy

DT - Brian Price

LE - Adrian Clayborn

Tells how much you know, locally I've been hearing you'll see the Bucs playing some 3-4 this season.

Then why are they draft 4-3 players

Hold up, knee...hold up.

Adrian Clayborn? Da'Quan Bowers? To go with Gerald McCoy? What's old is new again in Tampa. (If the knee holds up.)

It's plainly apparent what Mark and Mo-Mo are trying to do here...build up that defense from the front to the back. Same way Tony Dungy's defense was built. Smart route to take, Mark & Mo-Mo.

(Again...if the knee holds up.)

That said, unless I missed something (and I probably did), Jimmy Smith from Colorado is still out there. With Aqib Talib being the knucklehead he is, it might not hurt Tampa to look at drafting some depth on the corners, if not a new successor to Ronde Barber (which Talib was supposed to be). I don't really see the Buccaneers drafting offense this year--I think Mo-Mo's pretty happy with what he's got. (And plus, it's not like WR has ever been a "glamour" position for the Buccaneers anyway.)

And oh by the way, I remember Jim Bates wanted to try to install some 34 when Mo-Mo hired him as D-coordinator season before last...and we all saw what happened with that. Tampa doesn't have the personnel for a 34...the Tampa-2 wouldn't even work with the type of guys a 34 requires, especially up front. I wouldn't even want to see it tried down there.

That said, if they can get the right personnel grouping, I could see them possibly mixing some 34 into their package--but if they're going to do that, they'll need to find a big body to plug up the middle.

Ah, okay--yes I did miss that. Disregard all that I said about Jimmy Smith then. (Point still holds about Tampa probably needing to snag a DB or two if they can.)

So which guy's team with many holes just didn't draft at a position of need?

THIS GUY'S TEAM DID!!!

/I hate this front office.

They needed WR and they draft D and a TE. At least they got a target in the 2nd but I don't get drafting a guy at 14 who didn't even play this year. I would've rather they'd at least taken Ingram since Jackson's on his way downhill.

With Carimi in the first, and Paea in the 2nd, the Bears have had one of the finest drafts (so far) in recent memory. On paper, anyway.

As for the Lions, Jahvid Best + Mikel LeShoure should be a horrifying tandem as well, scary stuff.

edit: and yeah as far as "worst draft" that award goes to st. louis and/or washington.

Jennings, Driver, Jones, Nelson, Cobb, Finley, holy s**t.

At least my Niners aren't in your division.

Haha my thoughts exactly.

And they end Round Three picking a Running Back from Hawaii yes they do exist in that offense. Alex Green had a really good senior year and Mike Mayock thinks he can be very vital this year.

You know, I really enjoy that you're as big of a Bucs fan as I am. You sum up how I feel almost every time without me having to actually type it out. Thanks for making my job easier :P

I'm pretty jazzed about the Saints' draft so far. Cameron Jordan and Mark Ingram will make their sides of the ball better immediately.

They also have a damn good track record with 3rd round+ picks (Jahri Evans, Marques Colston et al). Check out their first 3rd-rounder...Martez Wilson of Illinois. Have to admit, in game pics he looks more like a safety than an LB, but he's 6-4 and 250 and ran a freakin' 4.49 at the combine, fastest of all LBs.

Looks more like an LB in his combine garb:

Their other 3rd round pick was CB Johnny Patrick of Louisville, who should contribute right away on special teams and possibly as a nickel back.

Dallas landed a sleeper in RB DeMarco Murray. As Sooners fans, we've watched him for the last several years and he's a solid ballplayer.

BTW Bucs fans...I really don't like the idea of Brees having that DL bunch of yours chasing him twice a season.

The Saints have a chance now to pull off what would have to be a draft first. They got Cameron Jordan of Cal, how about drafting Jordan Cameron of USC? :D

Tell you what, I'll make a deal with you. You're a Buccaneer fan way the hell out there; I'm a Florida native. I'm not really all that big a baseball guy, nor do I really have a "favorite" team...but I've been thinking of finding a team fanbase to latch onto. You're a Giants fan from the left coast; I'm from the other side. What's up?? :P
