Players and owners going back into the room for more negotiating. At least it seems like they're dedicated to trying to hammer this thing out and now.

Well, I've got my dick out. Let's see what happens.

Bettman's motto since '94.

And I just spit my drink out.

...to hand all the media members pizza. Napkins too!

At least it's not a bucket of ice with champagne.

Any new reports on what kind of pizza? Do they have toppings? Did the owners or union buy it? And will the payment for the pizza be deducted from the hockey related revenue?

Too many teams have too much to lose for them to cancel an entire season again, especially now that there's been progress. At least I hope so.

We'll see. They've exchanged proposals again. So they're at the "sit with your own side and let them pick it apart" phase. We've been here before. Someone will find a way to :censored: it up again. Which frankly I'm fine with. I've already moved on this season regardless if they find a way to play some half assed short season.

I would love to hear what happened between Jacobs and Miller. There's reports saying that jacobs nearly walked out and Ryan Miller snapped at him.

Maybe the players can just bully the old a$$hole into getting something done.

We'll find out a lot more today, but I think this is the first time the owners have conceeded anything and started to actually negiotiate. Infuriating that it took Until December 5th/wee hours of December 6th and after cancelling so much of the season.

From various twitter reports:

- "it was a candid dialogue that got a little heated" - literally 15 different NHL journalists I follow who are covering the lockout

- The make whole provision the NHL proposed is up from 211 million to 300. The players had asked for 383 million. That's what negotiating looks like.

- NHL proposed a 10 year CBA with an opt-out clause after 8 years.

- Owners also staying firm on contract max of 5yrs and 5% variance. Did offer 7yrs terms for teams to sign their own FA.

- Players will get back to the owners todays

- Daly "there's still some critical open issues"

edit: The 4th Period says "deal not imminent"

http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/nhl121206.html

This article states everything I was trying to jumble together from 20 different twitter accounts.

It looks like length of contracts could end up being the main holdup, which is idiotic because it's the owners fault for signing these lengthy deals to circumvent the salary cap that they themselves put into place. AGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH

Fehr and Bettman are back in the discussions... Always a bad sign.

We're screwed.

Gary Bettman heard there was progress and decided he could not have that so like Mighty Mouse he shouted, Here I come to ruin the day.

We heard you the first 9,000 times Tank. You hate Bettman. We get it. Please just understand that if his bosses (the owners) told him to announce they'll be playing hockey tomorrow, he'd do it.

I still have mixed feelings about the lockout.

1. Yes it is bad, and it sucks there is no NHL going on right now.

2. Yes it is good, maybe there will be a better product or league for us to watch in a couple of years that won't have this crap going on.... I miss the good ole days when you could watch all the NHL games you wanted. A lot of people don't have NBC Sports Network, and on top of that not showing 2 of the Stanley Cup games on national tv is a disgrace to all NHL fans in the US.

You honestly think that this lockout will lead to a better product? Wasn't that the same line of bull :censored: they tried to feed to us last time?

I think Bettman tells the owners he can crush the players and make them crawl back and he is keeping a deal from getting done with this mindset.

I highly doubt Bettman hates the game of hockey as much as you think he does...
