When the Dynamo won back-to-back titles, in the season following their second title they added the star for the first Cup win and wore the Scudetto.

And that's one of the things I find confusing -- stars or scudetto, but not both. 1 star + 1 scudetto = 2 titles is confusing, especially if you're not an MLS diehard.

It's not really that confusing.

-Scudetto: defending champions immediately after previous year.

-Stars: historical championships before the previous year.

But yeah, if you follow MLS casually, or any football league for that matter, it'll be confusing to remember.

Some Dynamo teasers...

http://t.co/8XE5dt0MS5

I honesly don;t know where that flag is located. Common knowledge would say the sleeve, but there are no adidas stripes to be seen anywhere.

And it looks like they might be going with some white graphics that resemble the stadium??

idk, looking alright so far though.

Seems like State Flag Jock Tags are the new thing in MLS.

Weird. I would think thats a major no no, especially being that the jerseys have to be tucked in before kickoff.

And are the jerseys used for the preseason matches gonna be the game jerseys too?

Oh man, I thought that the State Flag Jock Tag for the Timbers was the lone exception. However, if this is true, then it doesn't sound well thoughout since the following issues come to mind:

  • D.C. isn't a state, however, I assume that D.C. United will represent the Flag of D.C.. Then again, there are fans in Maryland and Virginia, so how do you satisfy the fanbases in these states?
  • Red Bull New York plays in Harrison, NJ, but the club calls the New York metro area home. Would they go with the Flag of New York City, the State of NY or NJ flag?
  • Sporting Kansas City plays in Kansas City, KS but the club calls the Kansas City metro area home. Would they go with the Flag of Kansas or Missouri? (I think there's a Flag of Kansas City, KS somewhere)
  • Philadelphia Union plays in Chester, PA, but the club calls the Philadelphia metro area home. Would they go with the Flag of Philadelphia? Pennsylvania? or other?
  • New England plays in Massachusetts, but it's safe to assume they'll use the Flag of New England.
  • Would the Chicago Fire go with the Flag of Chicago which is eons times better than the Flag of Illinois?

Being from the Missouri side, I would love using the Missouri flag, but that just won't happen since they aren't based in the state. Hopefully they just avoid the issue altogether and go with a standard tag.

I wouldn't overthink it too much. We know the Timbers are using the city of Portland flag, but not all their fans come from the city proper (some even come across the river from Washington state). Less problematic for Portland though since they do actually play IN Portland.

Hope Seattle uses their awesome flag...

Really cool though!

The Timbers and their supporters have long used the "rising sun" motif. Not exactly sure of the origins but there's precedent. It was on the previous home kit's jock tag too.

OK then it makes sense. Thanks.

It's a very nice detail, I was just wondering the reason.

fast forward to 3:05

Timber Jim's (the guy who signals what songs to sing during the game) daughter passed away in a car accident. This song was her favorite, so the Timber Army sings this song every game in her memory. That's where the whole sun thing came from

Wow, in Europe the guy leading the chants is usually some short-hair/bald no-neck knucklehead. Funny to see 50+ guy in a white shirt and tie doing this in USA.

A bit off topic, but why does DC United not play at FedEx Field? RFK is SUCH a brutal stadium for soccer.

RFK is more Metro-accessible, rent is probably much cheaper than renting from Snyder, and they've got the stadium essentially to themselves at this point.

And rumor has it here in the DMV area is that they could be chopping off the upper deck of RFK to make it more soccer friendly and such

@LAGalaxy: TOWN HALL: Chris Klein tells fans that new kits will have four stars this year and one will be gold for last year's championship.

As a Galaxy fan, I think that's some bull :censored: . Only instance I would want a gold star is if it was a season with no losses, like Arsenal's 2004 season. THAT deserves a gold star.

Either that or have a gold star for years that your club wins the CONCACAF Champions League.

Ok, but what about the complete lack of seats in the endzones? So dumb that MLS will front the bill for another soccer stadium in the NY area, but won't even really help DC. If anyone in the MLS needs a stadium, it is them.

But does that fall on MLS or is that more city/team funding, or lack thereof?

Was the above not true? Here is a teaser from the Sounders and I'm not seeing enough green around the logo. Just me?

BDudFXjCIAEUAYj.jpg

The pattern fades out below the logo. You can see on the full jersey that there is a very sparse amount of green there, which is reflected on the logo close-up.

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions)

King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)

I kind of thought that too but when you zoom in it's definitely different. Could end up being more or less the same but just thought it was interesting.
