I don't know why, but I still love that old Falcons logo so much better than the current one. And I think the current one isnt a bad logo, either. There's just something about how simple the previous look was that I still miss.

The old one is a classic, bordering on ico... never mind.

The current one is not bad, but it with its aggressive tilting, it's just too contemporary for my tastes, and will be dated eventually. There's nothing inherently bad about it, and for an expansion team I'd probably give it high marks, and frankly it works better with the uniform style they switched to, but it came at he expense of one of the league's most recognizable classic marks.

Just simplify the lines inside the wings and call it a day.

They could throw back to these, just swap the decal for the helmet:

Not without prior approval from the league, so not this year. If the NFL is going to drop a rule like this out of nowhere, they should be flexible wiih substitutions.

That red helmet throwack set is one of my favorites. They look far BETTER than the current primary and should replace them.

You don't know that they're not being flexible with substitutions. Unless someone in the Atlanta front office claims that they tried but were denied, we don't know that they even wanted to do this.

So this is the real tragedy in this rule...

(Photos of Falcons throwbacks)

The best looking uniform in football (any level, period) will not be seen again.

Unless, of course, the Falcons come to their senses and trade up from their current tired look.

Tragic? Maybe. But it is not a tragedy of "No more creamsicle Bucs" proportion.

Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse."

You had to go there, didn't you? :P

Although, I will say that this new Helmet Rule thing is giving increasingly more credence to a once-just-simply-budding thought that is of late burning ever presently and oh-so-fervently deep within the confines of my mind....

Is there something we fans and the teams can do to get this helmet rule to go back to normal?

Convince the NFL to ignore the recommendation of one of its key safety committees?

Sure. Start an Internet poll. :P

Skip the poll. This is serious! Go straight to change.org; that always gets things done.

Couldn't the NFL just fit the throwbacks? Or is Roger Goodell worrying about his revenue instead of safety?

This is why we need Tag back.

How does eliminating or restricting the alternate uniforms, a known source of revenue, mean Goodell is "worrying about his revenue"?

That makes as much sense as bringing Tagliabue back.

He won't spend money on fitting the helmets.

that amount of money is minuscule when compared to how much they make from alternate jerseys
