For those who follow FIFA and this German team, they were due for an ass-whooping performance in this World Cup. I would have in 1,000 years thought it'd be the United States on the other end of that whipping leather belt, not the friggin Brazilians on their friggin home soil!.

The last time Brazil suffered such a humiliation at home in the World Cup they ditched their kit and asked the public to redesign their colours.

The last time they suffered such a humiliation at home in the World Cup, the players were formally ostracized by the fans, media and government in permanent shame. These Brazilian players still have the 3rd-place game to play; how the hell are they going to approach that one given tonight's turd of a performance?

I can't fathom why the woman is crying like that when she was definitely alive and conscious when Brazil won it last, but the kid, that's understandable. He's probably never seen his team even this far before.

This victory is two fold. One side of the house was the absolute abysmal defensive play by the Brazilians. They were constantly giving up the ball in their own half and when they did make it out of their own half, the Germans were quick on the counter-attack with 3v1 and 4v2 waves. You can't blame the entire crushing loss on Thiago Silva being suspended and Neymar being out injured. This was something more complex and deeper. This was a complete crushing defeat for both the national team and the country of Brazil. On the other side of the coin, the Germans were clinical in their finishing being ruthless at times not letting up on the gas peddle. The German back four, especially Hummels and Howedes have been strong. And I have been presently surprised with Mertesacker's performance in the World Cup. I thought with the long domestic season in the PL, he would be seriously running on fumes. He proved me wrong again. This win proves to all critics that the current German team can beat any side in the world at the moment, with crushing results (4-0 v Portugal and now 7-1 v Brazil) and clinical on the pitch.

With the Final being around the corner on Sunday, I can't make any predictions for the match because it'll be hard to say who they will be playing and how their sides will match up. I myself will be supporting Die Nationalmannschaft through and through no matter what. My support for my heritage will not wonder...no matter what.

And for those German supporters who want to remember this amazing victory over Brazil at the Estadio Mineirao, World Soccer Shop is selling a beautiful t-shirt to commemorate this day:

Should we really be feeling sorry for these over-emotional Brazil fans? This is our equivalent to Yankees fans spilling tears after being swept in the ALCS.

Based on their respective performances against their sole common opponent, the U.S. ends up being a whopping five goals superior to Brazil.

The motto on Brazil's flag may be "Order and Progress", but this afternoon the Seleçao showed anything but either of those, especially the defense who looked like the Keystone Kops out there.

The first thing that came to mind was Russia's men's ice hockey bombing out of the Sochi Winter Olympics without a medal, supposedly a catastrophic result for that host nation. After today's four-goals-in-six-minutes meltdown by the Seleçao, Ovechkin and company don't have it so bad after all.

I'm not faulting the Brazilian fans crying at the game. I mean, yeah it's a game, but when you're playing your nation's top sport in its biggest worldly tournament on the biggest stage in your country....you're investing a lot of national pride and emotion (not to mention a lot of coin) as the games get bigger and more important.

My girlfriend and I were at the gold medal hockey game in Vancouver. When Parise scored the goal that tied the game with seconds left in regulation, there was a lot of nervous folks in the building during the intermission. It was eerily quiet, one of the quietest intermissions I've ever seen. Being seconds away from a festive party to stunned silence (except for those of us wearing blue!) is one of the oddest sensations in sports.

The gold medal game in Vancouver was what I could equate to Brazil and the World Cup. They've been waiting six years (I believe) to see the home team win the big prize. While Canada had to sweat it out and won gold, no one in their wildest dreams thought Brazil would fall apart like that. A one-goal loss or losing in PK's in the semis would be seen as "OK, we didn't win, but we're right there with the best in the world", but to lose 7-1 is, like Mike Tirico said shortly after the game.....eviscerating.

They get to play the third-place game (a game that's usually more relaxed and more offensive-minded) in a couple days, which is a blessing....they don't have to sit on a 6-goal loss for four years. But wow....I never thought I'd see the day where Brazil gets pants'ed like this in the World Cup, and on friendly turf at that.

It'll be interesting to see how Brazil shows up on Saturday.

We saw what happened to the US in Sochi after Canada and losing 5-0 to Finland.

But in Vancouver, that same US team drubbed Finland in a semifinal and the Finns actually had to come back from down 3-1 against Slovakia.

Well, I picked Germany over Holland in my pickem pool, so I'm obviously pretty happy.

I had a feeling that Germany was due. They've been in the top three in like the last five World Cups. I figured it was about time for them.
