JayMac Posted September 3, 2014 Share Posted September 3, 2014 Watched the Bucs in red jerseys against the Redskins and was surprised that I did not hate it as much when seeing it in action.The only elements I hated were the numbers and those random paint streaks on the helmet. The uptick in orange looks great, the helmets are nice other than the streaks and overall, they look decent. They have a solid color scheme and that helps hide a lot.They also looked far better with white pants than pewter.They're not great by any means and are a downgrade, but I don't puke when I see them in action like I thought I would.Those numbers though...The white pants make the overall look so much worse. The pewter pants in this set makes for a pewter overload when you include the helmet and shoulder yoke. It's just too much. I'd say the white pants look better and help tie in the numbers. TheOldRoman Posted September 3, 2014 Share Posted September 3, 2014 The above pictured set is vomit-inducing, but it's still far better than the set with pewter pants (not to mention pewter socks). The reason is that there's no "pewter" in the pants, or the shoulders for that matter. As a matte version, it's just kinda-brownish gray, which is not only hideous, it's not their color. It fits the color-color-white-color aesthetic that is associated with NFL football. That doesn't mean it looks good. Their best look now is a worse version of their old worst look. Good job, Tamps! That's...wow. So all this time they had people thinking they came up with some revolutionary material...when all it was is the same reflective material I use on the job on a daily basis? I mean hell, why didn't they just co-opt and incorporate blaze orange along with it to complete the look--that've been just the Nike-est thing to do, anyway, and it certainly wouldn't be any worse than what they have now. And what's with the perforation-looking pattern going on with the white/top layer of the numbers? Or is that just something for retail versions of the jersey?Man did they screw the pooch on this identity overhaul.
