A pitch clock would be great, it could get the fans more involved in the game counting down 5,4,3,2,1...

In other news, Chris Taylor has a crack on his left pinky finger, so unless Nick Franklin is recalled again, it appears the M's are stuck with Brad Miller, dead last in OPS+ at SS. I'm sure the M's will be in on Stephen Drew next month.

A pitch clock is dumb, you cant have one of those like you do in basketball. They are completely different sports and you would need to determine when the clock starts and at what part in the pitching motion does it stop, and what will the penalty be if they dont pitch it in that time a ball? And what about pick off plays does that start the clock again?

The Marlins bring their wretched road record to the Bay Area tonight(4-15). Normally I would be excited about that, but the Fish are 10-1 in their last 11 games against the Giants in San Francisco.

A pitch clock should be considered.

There is a pitch clock. It's not enforced because no one's gonna tell the Yankees and Red Sox what to do.

Eh, there are a lot of people that like baseball but find it too slow/dull to watch an entire game. Personally, I love baseball, but as a person that's been playing soccer my entire life, the slowness of the sport really turns me away from watching games on a regular basis. Sometimes I'll tune in to watch the last 3 innings if the game is close.

Phantom is just coming up with ideas on how to "expand" the interest of baseball to a broader base of sports-fans. Not that I entirely think a game-clock would do that (it may turn current fans away, who know), I don't think it's such an evil idea to consider.

I wouldn't mind seeing this kinda thing tested during spring training or something to see how the fans like it.

Tony La Russa named CBO or Chief Baseball Officer of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Hopefully this means he is in charge of all baseball operations for the Dbacks. As Kevin Towers and Gibby have been awful.

Looks like he will oversee all Baseball Operations...

I say Good Move DBacks!

There are alot of people that enjoy the slow pace of baseball, myself being one of them. Honestly, give me a pitchers duel over a home run derby anyday. Installing a game clock would be stupid and turn many people that enjoy baseball away. Let the NFL and NBA have their game clocks imo

Exactly. I love the slowness of baseball. It's a social spectator sport because of the time between pitches and the half inning breaks. If you want nonstop action watch soccer or hockey.

My absolute FAVORITE part of baseball is how much downtime there is. You can watch a game and multi task without the fear of missing much. It's the only sport I can watch while doing reading for school and actually make some progress. And the funny part about that is those leisurely moments of nothingness during the summer time turn downright torturous in October. It's exhalirating, really.

Woah, I definitely didn't see that coming. It's an interesting move for a team that's already known for hanging their pitchers out to dry and throwing inside for the most petty of reasons as it is. This could either be brilliant or a total disaster.

As much as I like Gibby, I could see LaRussa managing the D Backs. As an Arizona resident, I love that move. As a Giants fan, this horrifies me.

So what the hell happens if there's a "pitch clock violation?" Is it an automatic walk to 1st base? Is it an automatic run?

I'd bet you also would want regulation games to be shortened to 7 innings, include pre-determined TV timeouts during at-bats and have coin tosses to start games. Sorry if MLB is a boring and tedious league for your tastes.

Watching the Pirates @ Yankees at the Announcer on FS1, talking about the Brewers saying the two of the players Gomez, etc. are responsible for the Brewers having a stranglehold on the division.

So a quick look at the Division:

Milwaukee 27-16 (.628)

St. Louis 23-20 (.535) GB: 4.0

I didn't realize he (seriously who is calling this game? I keep forgetting their names) thinks a 4 game lead in May is a stranglehold on the division . Sure, maybe it is in September... Then again my head is so clogged, I could have just imagined this whole thing...

It's a ball. Umpires already have the authority to call a ball if the pitcher takes too long to pitch. They just don't.

I absolutely HATE when the Giants play the Marlins at AT&T Park. They're 2-10 vs Miami/Florida in their last 12 home games, and they always seem to lose a key player for a long stretch of time. 2011 it was Posey, and now it looks like it may be Angel Pagan who slammed his shoulder into the turf pretty violently on a missed diving catch and is in obvious pain.

I really wish we could just erase 1993 from memory and forget the Marlins entirely (Rockies can stay, they're fine).

It would also help a lot if the team decided not to swing at balls in the dirt repeatedly. So the Giants won't win this series despite not facing Fernandez.

At least tonight though, LOL Kershaw.
