Sounds like tons of tickets still available for the LAC's first game at StubHub Center.

A 27,000 seat stadium being half empty sure isn't a good look for the NFL. Of course they may have something to do with it, perhaps to punish Spanish. They scheduled the Rams (at home no less), and LA's real team the Raiders on CBS, at the same time opposite the LAC.

Well in LA, we'll only get the Rams and Chargers on our local TV. If you don't have DirectTV, you will not be able to watch any other game at 1:00 pm. And with the significant lack of crossover fan support between the Raiders and Chargers, you're not going to find people who would not want to go watch Dolphins-Chargers at StubHub because the Raiders are on. If I misunderstood your post, forgive me, but that is a stretch to claim one of the main reasons the Chargers are struggling with ticket sales for the home opener.

With Rams-Chargers too, there is also a significant lack of fan crossover between both teams, just not as extreme as the one between the Raiders-Chargers.

I think the real reasons for LAC struggling with ticket sales are that a.) there aren't that many Charger fans in LA to begin with, hence why moving here was and always will be, a terrible idea; they really are only LA's 4th or 5th favorite NFL team (behind Rams, Raiders, Niners and probably the Cowboys or Packers); b.) people who would want to go watch a game at StubHub, will only do so as long as their pre-existing favorite team isn't playing and c.) the tickets are priced too high considering the venue, the location (no one goes to Carson for fun) and, once again, the team that calls that stadium home.

I'm not sure you know how Karma works.

Vontaze Burfict is a complete thug & a safety hazard to the entire league. Bungles deserve all the :censored: they're experiencing for keeping that PoS.

P.S. Karma is real, which is why the Patriots have 5 titles.

I'm thinking about going on Sunday, $113 for a single before parking issues.

Rams@Lego Stadium is even less on Thursday. Add a SeatGeek code and it's under $20 on Thursday.

Empty seats in the preseason was one thing, but this is the real deal now. I hope it's really embarrassing; I can't wait.

You and me both. I'm hoping it's a sub-20,000 real number. They'all report a sellout of course.

If you're the Chargers, at this point you're thinking that it's better to be 3/4 full in a 27,000 seat stadium rather than 1/8 full in a 93,000 seat stadium (which could be either the Coliseum or Rose Bowl, they are off by only 1 thousand). Although either way it's going to be extremely embarrassing.

I wonder if Dean still thinks this was a good idea. Knowing him, he probably does.

It says a lot that I'm more disgusted at the direction of the team than you are.

What's that? That you lack perspective, take this too seriously, aggrandize your role in your team's success and amount winning to silly things like karma?

My disgust with the team only has to do with ownership's continued ineptitude and the carelessness they took with offensive line personnel in the last two years. Ends there. Even if we agreed what would you have me do about it? Write a letter, march on the stadium? There's only so much energy I can invest in sports and I learned a long time ago that no matter what I do it doesn't affect what the team does on the field so it's wasted brain matter. I just watch the games, man. You should too. You don't play for the Patriots.

When a team fired a shotgun into their foot and then wonders why they can't walk straight, they deserve to be called out on their stupidity, no matter what team it is. Like you said, my team has had 1/50th the success they have had, so why should I have anything against the Bengals unless they've done something really egregious?

Again, you punch down and there's no good outcome for you.

And yes Burfict & Pacman are both thugs, Plain & Simple. This is what? Burfict's 3rd suspension for an illegal hit? You want to add Rodney Harrison & Aaron Hernandez to that list too? go right ahead.  I'm just stating facts.

You're just stating facts. You said karma was the reason they lost. You won Super Bowls with the second dirtiest player of the last generation (Hines Ward is the first) and made it to another while employing a murderer. That's thoroughly debunked your karma argument. That's why those players were brought up. Did you know the Bengals also have the largest bible study in the NFL? If karma was real wouldn't that balance out their employment of the thugs? Just stating facts.

You also keep using the word "thug". What do you mean by that? What message do you want people to come away with when you use that word because when I see it the only thing it it's serving is to make you look boorish. Adam Jones and I live in the same part of Cincinnati. I see him active in the community, a good father, a devoted family man, but he made a mistake last offseason and I thought this was the time the team was going to move on, but they didn't so I shrug and move on too. Every team in the NFL is employing guys with rap sheets and pasts. Every single one. What am I supposed to do, form a Klan rally? Not really my thing.

Burfict's suspension this time was for a previously legal tap (on a blocker) that other players get away with weekly. I saw the same thing happen a half dozen times in week 1. It was a ridiculous overreach and misinterpretation of the rules. I like the way he plays and even with his penalties he's so good that he's a huge net benefit. If he played 30 years ago he'd be beloved around the league.

While I am of the opinion that Burfict's latest suspension is league overreach, the problem is that fans (and team personnel) will continue to defend his behavior on the field because "he's a hard-nosed player" and "his play would've been legal 30+ years ago." Well, it's not 1987 anymore, it's 2017 and he has to adapt. Additionally, he really has no excuse because unlike players who played before the rule changes (James Harrison, Brandon Mayweather), he came into the league with these rules already established. The latest suspension is just the league telling him they won't accept even borderline BS from him.

now replace all mentions of Burfict in this post and replace it with Mike Mitchell. Same thing except he's injured more players than Burfict.

He was probably counting on being in the new stadium in 2 years too. 3 years of an empty stadium will be horrible.

Yep, Rivers will be retired, Gates will be gone, etc... etc... The LAC had better get used to playing to a bunch of empty seats.

The real question is how is how long will the NFL let it go on.

Until Inglewood is ready.  They don't exactly have a wealth of other choices.

What could the league do about it anyway?

I doubt he ever thought it was a "good" idea - just a necessary one.

He was faced with no chance of a new stadium and (in his view) losing market share to the Raiders.  He had to move just to prevent them from doing so, and for the stadium (which he stands to profit from despite being essentially a tennant.

I think this is about right.  I never quite understood why it was a must for LA to have two teams.  The Rams had more LA history than the Chargers ( and far more people that remember it) and came in one year earlier.  The Chargers being #2 was the inevitable outcome.  Now everyone is stuck with a disaster.

Yeah, this definitely sounds like the Bengals.

It's about time the Saints stopped wearing white jerseys at home for the first half of the season.  It only makes sense for the home team to force the opposition to wear their dark jerseys when you play games outdoors.  You're in a dome, morons!

They held onto that one-game lucky charm for way too long.  But such is the franchise....their fans hang onto the past way too much, too.

Well last week was rough for the Bucs with the hurricane and all, but starting their season against their former (AWFUL) backup quarterback sure seems to be a nice way to get the season started.

White jerseys with gold pants>>>>>Black jerseys with black pants.

Unless the Saints brass finally adds stripes, those awful black leotards need to be burned ASAP.
