Well, I didn't see that one coming. I thought about mid way through game 2 the Astros were cooked.

This is was a bit of a lose-lose situation for me. I've always hated the Dodgers, so there's no way I wanted to see them win. But my girlfriend is an absolutely die hard Dodgers fan, and she's just crushed right now. I hate to see that.

Dodgers will be back, though. Lots of respect to them for an awesome played series. They have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of.

The Astros fought hard, but I think the Dodgers pretty much won the series tonight. Houston's offense isn't nearly as scary on the road and they have no bullpen.

Well, I was way off. Whoops!

I'll say this: it seems fitting that the Astros had to clinch their title under NL rules.

Tonight was just a snowball.

Darvish was trash again, although I don't argue him being out there in the first place.  A couple years ago I was at a Dodgers/D-Backs game in Arizona where Kershaw was pulled in the 2nd inning after coughing up 7 ER (box score) so I can see how you would assume that it was an overcome-by-the-moment rough night in that amusement park of a stadium.  Sadly, he just choked.  But, you have the hole cause the young hitters to press which led to the roof caving in.

At least they shed the choking in the LCS narrative.  And Kershaw shed the playoff narrative (don't get me started on Game 5 - Keuchel was awful also and Nolan Ryan in that park would have probably had a 4+ ERA).

I'll post a cathartic 2018 roster analysis in the Hot Stove thread.

So the Cubs (away team) received the World Series trophy in the locker room -- Can someone explain why the 'Stros (also away) are doing this on Dodger Stadium field?

Yeah I found that odd. They almost always have the trophy presentation in the locker room when the away team wins, only doing it on the field when the Home Team wins.

Guess they didn't want that fancy platform going to waste?

I brought this up on twitter and one person stated it was inside due to rain, but the rain was a light sprinkle *at best* after the final out.

No idea, just seems weird to do it in front of a completely empty stadium like the Astros just did.

Congrats Houston! They deserve it, fantastic job by the GM and front office to essentially write a handbook on how to effectively tank. So glad to see a young team like that win. Also huge props to AJ Hinch, to win a World Series with that bullpen is something to be proud of.

As for the Dodgers, I think we'll probably get that Dodgers-Yankees World Series soon enough that some of us wanted here. The Dodgers were too good this season to not be in the hunt again.

I was born in Houston, so this one is special for me, even as a Rays fan (The Astros were my NL team before they got moved). The city really needed this, I feel.

Couple words of advice to Dodgers fans: You guys will be back*. This is an amazing team that will get its ring soon.

*Well, that's what all of the Rays fans around here (yes, we exist) said in 2009, so...

Fixed that for you.

Regardless, Correa just ruined proposals for the rest of us. Might as well go the humble route because there's no way any proposal is ever going to top that.

Congrats Houston on winning a classic WS. This WS isn't as an instant classic as last years was, but that doesn't mean this wasn't memorable.

While it wasn't a 108-year drought ending, it was a 55-year drought coming to an end.

This Astros team is stacked to compete for the next few years; and they can become a dynasty. But, they'll have to deal with those pesky Yankees, and the Dodgers shouldn't be down for long as well.

I HATED the Astros of my youth (99 especially), grew to like them in the 04-05 years when they were going up against St Louis, really liked them when they were basically 11 free wins for the Reds every year, was sad to see them go to the AL. I'm happy they finally got one. They've had a lowkey snake-bitten history. A lot of playoff appearances while always being a couple steps away from making it happen.

The last 3 World Series champions are the Royals, Cubs, and Astros, which shows that pretty much anybody in baseball can win it all if they draft well and make some shrewd trades. That should be encouraging to everyone.Yeah the Cubs and Astros are large market, but even with that they still went a combined 160 something years without a WS championship. I am a little worried that this might kick the tank-off that is already happening into overdrive. At least a 3rd of the NL was purposely not trying to win this past season.
