Damn; apparently the Coyotes kryptonite in this game is their own starting goalie.

The_Admiral
So for the dubious benefit of those who missed it, a summary of last night's cavalcade of derp: Hawks are called with an intentional offside, their second of the game. I've watched or listened to almost every Hawks game for about seven years now. This is the third year that I've had Gamecenter. I could count on my hands and maybe one foot the number of times I've seen two intentional offside calls in a game. Faceoff goes back to their end. Michael Handzus slips and falls on the puck, which is two for delay of game. Stamkos scores 23 seconds in from just above the Stamkos spot, Khabibulin never had a chance. 5-4 Tampa. Matt Carle drops back to Radko Gudas from behind his own blue line. Bounces off Gudas's stick and past a napping Ben Bishop. Game tied. Goal goes to Toews because sure I guess he had it last. Game goes to overtime. No one sees fit to defend Martin St. Louis. Khabibulin sucks. Ain't even mad, though; it was the worst game the Hawks played all year and they still got a loser point! ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
Corvus
So hey, Hawks fans, what's the deal with Ryan Stanton being a competent NHL defenseman? Is this as surprising to you guys as it is to us in Vancouver after his waiver pick up?
The_Admiral
Nah. He was good in Rockford, but I guess Kostka had the better training camp. The Hawks are organizationally deep enough at defense to lose him and not miss him terribly. So hey, look, Cam Ward is injured again. No one saw that coming! I'm sure he'll always be considered One Of The Best Goalies In The League, though. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

A quality backup, but it's going to be interesting to see if he can handle the load as a starter. Especially since he looks like that fat kid in school who claims he can play hockey, but actually can't. On 4/10/2017 at 3:05 PM, Rollins Man said: what the hell is ccslc? Sodboy13
Except Khudobin's hurt, too.Stanton was a very solid D-man in Rockford, but he basically played himself out of town with consistently abysmal performances in the Hawks' preseason. I know a lot of Hogs followers were taken aback by his poor play. Sodboy13
Blackhawks ate a fat one at home at Minnesota. It's early, but something's gotta happen with these special teams. Also, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Handzus and Roszival are dead. pluggerplugger1
Backstrom played a beautiful first two periods in net. Just standing on his head.
