Titans/Jaguars Thursday- worst night game ever?

This is the least interesting NFL game on a Thursday since.... Eagles/Rams 1998?

I applaud you for pulling that game out of your ass and yes I still remember parts of that game.

Not sure why so many people find a kaepernick to be such an idiot. He's a little different, sure. But he's been so unfairly scrutinized during his career it's ridiculous. I'm not saying he didn't have a bad year, but he was constantly running for his life because that O line was absolute dogs**t. I think it's more of a confidence issue than an ability issue. The Niners would be fools to let him go this soon. But, they are run by total idiots, so you never know.

the thing I heard today was that he refuses to study film, shows up late or just barely on time and leaves right away, and doesn't do anything to improve his game other than from a physical standpoint. He either doesn't care, is too dumb to read defenses or learn plays, or too dumb to realize the role that a QB really needs to play in the NFL. I know nothing about the guy so that could all be bull, but that' sjust what I had heard.

Sounds a lot like Vick's Atlanta days.

This 2014 Bears season will make for an incredible 30 for 30 someday. Once the inside story is out after careers have ended and people aren't afraid to speak their mind, it will be amazing to read about what an absolute disaster this whole thing has been. What's even more incredible is that Jay Cutler, the hate-faced, grumpy Jay Cutler, has been the most composed, humble, and dignified individual to address the media during this whole feces orgy.

Kinda, but Vick was a bad dude and also getting in trouble off the field (not just the dog fighting which we didn't know about at the time, but there was the airport thing, and wasn't there a couple other things?)

Not that I read much about other teams, but I haven't heard (or read on here) that Kaepernick is a bad guy.

Yeah, two 2-12 teams doesn't sound exciting, but these are where "Don't give a shoot" moments happen.

And it can't be any less exciting than last week's Cardinals/Rams game. Two sloppy offenses (yeah, let's not spin that game as two good defenses...the offenses just weren't executing. There were plenty of plays to be had that weren't.) made for bad TV. And we very well could get that again tonight. But it'll be hard to undercut last week's excitement factor.....

If that is roughing the passer then I'm a hot chick. I know there have been some bad ones this year but gods these calls are potentially altering entire seasons (not just games) for some teams. It's absurd anymore.

Edit - either of those calls. It's prettty much not worth watching because whatever you're seeing can be totally changed by a referee just deciding that there's a 15-yard penalty

Roughing the passer has devalued the game to a point where you can't even enjoy a good sack without thinking, 'When is the flag coming in?"

Really. I'm totally for player safety, but RTP is an absolutely absurd penalty anymore because it is so arbitrary and really is changing games and seasons.

My solution (if there even is one) is to err on the side of not throwing the flag (so only throw it if it's obvious) but then increase the level of punishment that can be given after the league reviews the tapes. Same with helmet-to-helmet and other total judgement calls that don't directly impact yardage (meaning for example PI, which is kind of arbitrary, but yards are involved so you need to have a decision on the spot.) There would be fewer penalties, but maybe bigger fines or even suspensions. My guess is that there really wouldn't be, because no reasonable person can see these supposed infractions and say that they're even worth 15 yards let alone $500K let alone a game check.

They could go the NCAA route and go to a video review when it comes to these kinds of plays. The NCAA calls it "Targeting"...not sure if the NFL has something similar.

There was a play where Matt Ryan was smacked hard by a Steelers player, but it was a clean play (to me). The O-lineman missed a block and the D-End pretty much got a free run on the QB and led with the shoulder (not the head) to the chest.
