Ugh...I can't think of a single worse alternate in baseball. They had an opportunity to add a really nice black alt, and completely screwed it up. Thin orange outline, uninspired patch, and unreadable lettering. No gold dropshadow, yet another consistency problem. The Giants haven't done anything right with their uniforms since adding the orange jersey in 2010.

Yikes. That's bad. It could be saved if they bring back that awesome alt cap with the black logo and orange outline, but I doubt it'll happen.

The orange should be home and the black away. They done got it backwards.

That graphic understates the combinations.

Here's pinstripes over yellow:

While I cannot be sure that all of those images are from the 1979 season, I believe that they did use all those combinations during that season.

Here is the 1979 team picture, showing black over yellow:

Should have went with this

Winner winner, chicken dinner.

You'd need an extra set of pants at home because white letters would look terrible with the cream.

The script could easily be made cream, or preferably, orange.

Yeah, I still don't get that change at all. The headspoon piping is really annoying, but the real travesty of that switch was changing the awesome sleeve patch they had to the ball over wordmark patch, which looks fine on the home set but looks like crap on the grey jerseys.

I don't even mind the headspoon piping on the grey, orange, and black alts. But they should've kept the home and road untouched. Even if it would've looked a bit more disconnected, it doesn't matter. The primaries look SO much better without the stupid piping.

Since 2010 the Giants have made five significant changes to their jersey rotation.

  1. Introduced new orange jersey
  2. Introduced new road jersey with headspoon piping
  3. Introduced new alternate road jersey
  4. Introduced new orange jersey to replace the previous orange jersey
  5. Introduced new black jersey

Come on. Too much.

Oh, and a new Sunday cap also.

Go A's!

Inconsistent placket and sleeves piping looking like crap as usual. Can't believe they haven't figured it out yet.

These were awesome :

Those are a mess :

I agree, they shouldv'e kept that jersey they had in 2010, but why change it? The players hated the jersey before they went with the one below? What's up with that?
