Stickguy's old stickwife, Twiggi, got board with him and had an affair with his stickboss. It turned into such a big deal that they actually transfered him to another branch in Pencilvania and she took the stickids with her. It was really rough for Stickguy at first, but then he met single mom Branchette on stickpeoplemeet.com and they hit it off so well she up and relocated her whole clan from Stickperson Durham (Tree Hill). I'm not sure that one is gonna last though, because she clearly still has feelings for her ex stickhusband Cane, who recently extended the olive branch to her, and he's really been working on getting over that nasty aged whiskey problem. There's also some tension because Stickguy isn't as effective at sticking her as Cain was, and Stickguy is already totally fed up with her dad Oakley, who just sits around all day in his old maple rocker trying to shake Stickguy's tree. He always says Stickguy's career as a woodworker is too one dimensional and that he should branch out more. Money is also a point of contention because, as Oakley says "Money doesn't grow on trees, you know!" and he wastes his cash on stupid frivolous things like Hurricanes season tickets. It's gonna be hard on Ash and Aspen, but it'll get better if they decide to stick it out and try to see the forest for the trees.

Not totally sure how accurate all of that is, though. It's just something I heard through the grapevine. I'm sure we'll root out more of the important details over the course of the season.

The local woman who accused National Hockey League star Patrick Kane of rape three months ago has notified the Erie County District Attorney’s Office that she no longer wants to cooperate in the investigation, five sources with knowledge of the case told The Buffalo News on Monday.

The woman has told authorities that the high-profile investigation has caused tremendous stress for her and her family, and that she no longer wishes to participate. The alleged victim spoke to investigators at the District Attorney’s Office at length last week, and after that, signed a document called an “affidavit declining prosecution,” which is now under consideration by District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III, one of the sources said.

“She was no longer interested in going forward,” another source told The News.

The woman first asked the DA’s staff about the status of the investigation before stating that she no longer wants to cooperate, this source said. Sedita, who ultimately will decide whether the case goes forward or not, declined to confirm or deny the information obtained by The News. He said he will not announce his next moves in the case until he speaks with the prosecutor who is directly handling the case.

That prosecutor is currently on vacation, said Sedita, who will be elected Tuesday as a State Supreme Court judge. He faces no opposition.

In a story published Sunday, The News quoted three sources with knowledge of the Kane case as saying it now appears highly unlikely that any criminal charges will be filed against Kane in connection with the woman’s allegations. The sources also indicated that Sedita has decided not to present evidence about the allegations to a grand jury for possible indictment.

Authorities have decided there are too many questions about the woman’s rape allegations for them to proceed with rape charges, which could put the 26-year-old Chicago Blackhawks star – a South Buffalo native who now lives in Hamburg – in jail.

I guess Aurelio's is fairly average as far as thin crust goes, but I have an emotional connection to it, having lived near the original in Homewood and eaten it more than any other pizza. Plus, I like green peppers on mine, and Aurelio's parboils or sautees theirs before baking the pizza, which is so much better than raw, crunchy peppers.

As far as the local stands go, I grew up in a town with a large Italian community, so I always had a couple places in town that made a great beef, plus pepper & egg sandwiches on Fridays. The "Combo" (an Italian beef with an Italian sausage link, for the uninitiated) is fairly standard practice, but one place had the "Whopper," which was an Italian sausage and meatball sandwich with marinara, mozzarella, and peppers. Mercy.

Momentarily On-Topic: Congrats to Patrick Kane on his first road game without rape chants from the crowd. We're about 85% of the way to collectively completely forgetting anything ever happened or how the Blackhawks handled it.

Crosby Sucks and no means no, those philly fans are great

Don't worry, I'm sure Kane's attorneys will go to a federal video game court and have his cover removal overturned on appeal.

Yes, everyone knows that, and taking Kane off a video game cover was the right move, but with the way this has gone, with the DNA evidence not bearing out the accusations, the D.A. putting the girl's mom on blast for a failed hoax, the dad making death threats on facebook, and the girl finally slinking away from it all with her tail tucked, this is as close to saying "probably nothing happened" as you're going to get. People can go on booing Kane at their home games, though; they're right to be upset that someone from another team keeps setting up and scoring goals.

At last winter's NHL Board of Governors meetings, the Pittsburgh Penguins petitioned to move from the powerhouse Patrick Division to the cozy den of Norris. ''We could compete better in the Norris than in the Patrick,'' J. Paul Martha, the team's vice-president and general counsel, said candidly. Eventually, the motion was withdrawn.

Hey, it worked when the Red Wings did it 25 years later!

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Admittedly I gave on following this circus. I just thought the eye roll over EA's decision was ridiculous. They have to worry about their own asses and were in no way contractually obligated to have Kane on there in the first place so removing him really wasn't a big deal.

So just accuse a person of something, then sit back and enjoy how that person loses everything, without being found guilty ? Your co worker or neighbour could be plotting stuff right now . America :censored: yeah !

Oh, please. Yes being on the NHL cover is a cool thing to have, but its ultimately kinda small beans for a guy as high up in his sport and earning as much money as Kane is; he's still in the NHL and has had very little change to his contract/employment status so has nowhere near 'lost everything'.

-----

I'm with EA on this one, yes they removed Kane from the cover over an ultimately unproven accusation, but it would have been WAY worse all round if they'd gone with a wait and see approach and ended up with a convicted rapist emblazoned all over their video game

I'm sure that Patty was heartbroken that he didn't make the cover of an NHL game for the second time in his career. I have to also stick with the consensus that it was the correct PR move by EA to remove him from the cover. I'd rather play it safe too.

The DA came out and made it official today: No charges to Kane. Damage done, however.

http://www2.erie.gov/da/index.php?q=district-attorney039s-statement-regarding-patrick-kane-investigation

11/5/2015

Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announces the following.

The Town of Hamburg Police Department and the Office of the Erie County District Attorney have conducted an exhaustive investigation over the course of the past three months regarding allegations made by a 21 year-old woman that 26 year-old Patrick Kane raped her on his bed. The investigative findings include the following:

  • There are significant material inconsistencies between the complainant’s accounts and those of other witnesses.
  • The DNA results lend no corroboration whatsoever to the complainant’s claim of penetration, a required element of proof for a rape charge.
  • The physical evidence and the forensic evidence, when viewed in tandem, tend to contradict the complainant’s claim that she was raped on Kane’s bed.
  • Although Kane has exercised his constitutional right to remain silent (which prohibits questioning by law enforcement), he has made no known incriminating statements to any civilian, nor has he engaged in any conduct consistent with a consciousness of guilt.

Additionally, the complainant, after consultation with her attorney, has decided that she does not wish to go forward with a criminal prosecution. She has recently signed what is commonly referred to as a “Non-Prosecution Affidavit” that states, in relevant part: “That after fully discussing all the circumstances with my attorney, I have decided I do not wish to criminally prosecute the charges which stem out of this investigation. I do so of my own free will and without any promises or compensation.”

A complainant’s willingness or reluctance to go forward is an important factor in determining whether a criminal prosecution, brought by this office on behalf of the People of the State of New York, will go forward. It is not, however, decisive. In other words, a complainant’s allegations, standing alone, do not trigger a criminal prosecution; nor does a complainant’s wish to withdraw charges, standing alone, determine whether a criminal case will be terminated.

Our prosecution standard is proof-based and has been stated on many occasions: consistent with the discretion afforded to the District Attorney under the law, we prosecute when the credible evidence, likely admissible in court, proves a crime was committed and proves the accused committed it.

The totality of the credible evidence -- the proof -- does not sufficiently substantiate the complainant’s allegation that she was raped by Patrick Kane and this so-called “case” is rife with reasonable doubt. Accordingly, the Office of the Erie County District Attorney will not present this matter to an Erie County Grand Jury.

A confidential correspondence has been sent to the Town Hamburg Police Chief (with copies forwarded to legal counsel for the complainant and Mr. Kane), setting forth in greater detail the investigative findings and the reasons for the decision not to criminally prosecute this matter.

The District Attorney will not be holding a press conference.
