Could Barclays be retrofitted to improve some of the seats? I remember reading way back when the Coyotes were at America West Arena how that building had a proposal to retrofit the arena to have 16K unobstructed seats.

If they could get a couple thousand more usable seats (perhaps by retracting both ends and putting the ice more in the middle, it'd be a feasible option for the Isles.

Ehh, I'm hearing Moosejaw.

You guys seem to be forgetting about the new state-of-the-art arena in Regina.

I keep hearing rumors about Whitehorse.

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions)

King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)

I'm guessing that would be a pretty expensive proposition, even if possible in the first place.

But Prokhorov is rich enough, and has apparently been involved in hockey in Russia, so who knows?

KHL is actually going to have two or three regular season games at the the Barclays Center next winter. Seems like Prokhorov has a hand in that as well.

Actually, rumor is that the Leafs and the Canucks are switching cities to cut down on the rioting problem, since when you don't have any playoff appearances, you can't riot after an elimination.

I think that's left over from the first alleged Reinsdorf courting in 2010, and it's still every bit as toothless now as it was then.

Edit: Sho'nuff! Take a trip with me in the Hockey Ownership Farce Wayback Machine, kids!

City of Glendale has come to an agreement with both IEH and the group headed by Reinsdorf. A vote Tuesday to find out which proposal they choose and who basically gets the team, however here are the details for both teams

Glendales deal with Reinsdorf includes

1.Working to change the teams name from Phoenix Coyotes to either Arizona or Glendale Coyotes.

2. Creating a community facilities district around the arena and Westgate City Center area to collect tax revenue and take out bonds against that revenue. The CFD would be used to pay the NHL $65 million over three years, and to set up a reserve fund to offset the Coyotes financial losses.

3. An out clause after five years, which would allow Reinsdorf to sell the team to an owner in another market or require Glendale to help the Coyotes with financial shortfalls after that time.

4. Having the Reinsdorf group take over operations of the city-owned arena. Glendale would continue to pay the bond debt on the $180 million facility.

5. Allowing for parking charges of $8 to $20 per car at Coyotes games and other arena events.

The Ice Edge arena deal includes

1. Creating a CFD to assess and collect parking fees at Coyotes games and establish a financial reserve for the team.

2. Tcket surcharges on Jobing.com Arena sporting events and concerts.

3. Working to change the teams name.

4. Allowing Ice Edge first rights to buy the city-owned arena if it is ever sold

I think this bodes better for Ice Edge than it does Reinsdorf at the moment

Far be it from ME of all people to grouse about a thread going off topic, but this one's my baby, and I won't shed no tears if Major-Junior Roll Call were to find itself spun off.

But yeah, I don't think this is the slam dunk that the Arizona people make it out to be. Between the huge arena management fees (paying $300 million for them to pay you $10 million? pear), the handing over of the very same parking lots that Glendale claimed it had to buy from Fax Hulsizer, and the surrendering of various ancillary revenue streams, it shouts illegal subsidy. All that plus no one's sure the guy has enough money.

Jamison Group to be given $15 Million a year to run Jobbing.com for 20 yrs or $300,000,000 over the life of the deal.

From the article...

Meanwhile, the team will pay the city approximately $13 million in rent over the duration of the agreement. The city also expects to make $60 million in ticket surcharges and between $4 million and $10 million in fees from naming rights.

The deal also includes a non-relocation agreement, stating the team will be liable for $250 million to $350 million in damages if it tries to move over the course of the lease.

I think you need to fill the arena for more than just the handful of home playoff games to make that much.
