The silver accent between the navy and teal does muddy the wordmark. It screams of someone in the organization thinking they need to change for change's sake. Can't leave a solid, well done design alone, have to muck with it to justify that you're doing your job.

Exactly. Just like the White Sox deciding to swap the clever diamond-sock patch out for their primary logo on the roads after 20 seasons, and then dropping the black and white pants stripes for mismatched piping two years later. Someone is sitting at a very nice mahogany desk, getting paid a lot of money, and felt he had to change something to show that he's seriously doing work and not spending the entire work day on Reddit.

...or spending the entire work day on sportslogos.net like I do?

No. If he was obsessed with unis like us, I'd hope he could come up with something better than what they did!

So much more beer softball league like. Now THAT'S baseball!

@nordiques. Anything new with the pads the last couple weeks?

Well, you guys have 2 weeks before the Padres give us the bland update and Arizona ****s your eyeballs.

I absolutely cannot wait to see the new caps.

Best ever Padres jersey imo

Yeah I'll say. Those jerseys were awful. Too classy and professional looking. Looks too much like a baseball uniform. These were so much better:

Those above (brown) were definitely one of the best. It was Padres through and through. I know many outside the region don't care for them but that's ok. The team is San Diego's not the rest of the nation's. I wish pro leagues in general would embrace a bit more diversity in their looks. For instance, I don't like the Marlins design wise but love that they are unique and seem very Miami in my mind's eye. The brown, yellow, orange were uniquely San Diego and that's been thrown away.

Even if you like them, it's amazing how bad both of those uniforms are. It really underlines what a shoddy mess of a uniform history the Padres have had as a whole.

The jerseys in both those photos are awful. Not everyone who wants a return to brown and yellow wants a return to gaudy, solid-color uniforms. White home and gray (or sand) road uniforms (pants AND jerseys) with brown caps, brown lettering, and yellow accents/outlines would be my preference.
