Lights Out
Unless the Giants pull it together in a hurry, we're guaranteed to get a World Series champion that hasn't won it in a long time (or ever). POTD: 2/4/12 3/4/

FiddySicks
Welp. The even year streak was great, and I f they don't pull it out (it's not over, but they're on the brink), I've got no sadness whatsoever. Just good thoughts and appreciation for the best run I've ever seen or could hope for. And it's the Cubs. Hard to hate on them too much. And if the Nats do what I hope they do, and we get LCS's of Washington vs Chicago and Cleveland vs Toronto, we're guaranteed a really weird World Series. I can live with that. The last world series W by CLE, WAS, or CHC was i think in 1954 or 55 by Cleveland. Strange indeed.

Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy. Strange indeed. 1948, actually (though Cleveland won the pennant in '54). Your point still stands, though. And consider that Toronto's drought is still 23 years, and LA's a bit longer, someone (should SF go down tonight) will win their first in a long time. It's basically us VS Baltimore again, without the offensive firepower. Cleveland is all about the pitching & that bullpen. I give it to the Jays in 6... & it will be beautiful to see it happen after what happened in the NBA ECF.
CS85
If the Cubs pitchers ever stop driving in crucial runs, this team may not get too much farther. I guess it hadn't occurred to me till now, but in thinking about it a bit, that really is a big deal. With a lineup like theirs, they should be raking. At least Baez kind of is. But really, the lineup has been okay at best and I have no clue what Rizzo is looking at (or for) up there. A few too many strikes looking down the pipe on his end. They may get past this series, but this may be a sneaky problem that bites them later against Washington or LA should they advance. The pitchers can't carry them farther than that. The pitchers can't carry them farther than that. They're not doing well at all. Bryant is fine, but Rizzo, Heyward, Soler, Russell - all of them are completely irrelevant offensively right now. It'll catch up to them at some point, if not tonight before this series is over. They are bleeding life back into the Giants with every knock surrendered to a team desperate to escape it's dying breath. Wouldn't shock me at all if the Cubs, in typical CURSE/DOOM/OHNO fashion blow this one, if not consecutive games. SF was never going to go down without a fight, and the Cubs supposed riptide offense hasn't done a damn thing to shake the Giants. FiddySicks
As soon as they threw in Chapman for the 6 out save, I thought it was a big mistake. I had a feeling it was gonna come back to bite them. It just felt like overthinking it. That's death in the post season.
