MLB changes 2018?

Well blue black and silver would at least be accurate...

On a side note, the Miami Marlins rebrand has already lasted seven seasons. Not trying to say that that's "a long time" but there are countless baseball rebrands that didn't last anywhere as long as that. Just an observation.

From bad to boring, the marlins are making a mistake by trying to impersonate a storied organization. They are the miami marlins. I hope this rumor is not true.

What rumor?   That they’re going blue, black and silver with a new logo?  Pretty big leap to make from that.

I hope the keep the current shade of blue, maybe a tad darker. Its a unique enough color to stand out nicely with black, silver/grey.

That makes me think of this....

Honestly, their unique shade of blue, black, and silver may actually work out well for them...

That would be pretty good - only one season with the new people in charge.

Plus blue, black, and silver sounds just about perfect for this team.

Add a hint of yellow and it would be perfect.

So this:

The material here skews the presentation. This probably wouldn't look so horrible if it was on a regular hat.

Despite the news in @KGeeX5's post, it does need a touch or orange or yellow, though (I say orange due to history and to further distance itself from the Rays).

You mean like it did prior to the last redesign?

Yeah totally. I thought that the Florida Marlins identity got WAY too drab towards the very end, but when it had a bit more color balance with the teal/blue, it was fantastic. I really miss that look. I think the Marlins could probably blend the two eras together and make it work really well.

There has always been a black hole that inevitably sucks in the Marlins identity. Starting way back in the 90s and black started creeping in as a codominant color. It happened almost immediately with the current look when the orange batting helmets were dumped after two exhibition games.

Is there a more overused alternate than the White Sox black jersey? It's like they hardly wear their primaries.

I feel like the Cubs could vie with them for wearing their blue alternates on the road almost exclusively for a few years now.

That said, the White Sox have always been something of a disappointment to me uniform-wise.  They have such a wonderfully simple concept and team color scheme, yet they over-rely on silver/gray and trot out these hideously generic uniforms.  There's so much room to grow and embrace their youth movement with a rebranding but they'll stay the same forever because Reinsdorf.

They should actually wear WHITE socks for starters lol

My only problems with the White Sox are that they got rid of the sock logo on the greys and are not wearing white socks, or even socks that are black and white. They wear the black alternates a lot, but it's hard not to when it was such a hit from day one. If they kept it to 54 games a year, that'd be ideal, but I get why they wear it as much as they do.

EDIT: oh and dropping the distinct thick black/white pant striping for a generic thin black stripe is also a problem, I should have said "the recent grey changes in general"

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

They should experiment with black pants and white sox with their black jerseys. Hell, it might even look ok with their gray.

They and the Giants could pull off full-black if they wanted to.

The White Sox are one team that I wouldn't mind having a full-time road alternate; something about the (lack of) color scheme makes their overall getup when wearing a grey jersey to be too drab for my liking. But I'm torn because the Chicago cursive script is great, nearly as good as the old Bulls one, and isn't used elsewhere. Their Players Weekend jersey is a mess though.

As for the actual white socks, didn't occur to me until now how hard it is to make white socks look decent with a modern-day baseball uniform.
