At least the second round pick they got could have had no protections, considering Wade was a productive role player. The Cavs like what they've seen in Cedi Osman and want to give him a bigger role. He's a good defender and hustles. I'm sure Wade new his minutes were going down and both sides thought it was best to move on. Cavs fans should feel better after yesterday. Even if ESPN wants to dump on us with their whole "these moves definitely mean Lebron is playing for the Lakers, Clippers and Warriors next season" bullcrap. While I am cautious about his production this season, I am also optimistic that being in a different system will provide him an opportunity to return to form. I'm also curious as to what number he wears. He's worn 99 in Boston and Cleveland, but I can't think of any Jazz player who's worn a number higher than 55. Something's gotta give there. I also hope that Joe Johnson finds himself on a contender to make one last push or two at a championship as well. As a Jazz fan, Iso Joe's buzzer beater against the Clippers in Game 1 of the first round last year will be one of my favorite moments in Jazz history. It sucks, because the Jazz have really turned it on the past couple weeks. I know losing Hood and Johnson won't be huge blows, but it still sucks to see a team trade away solid pieces, especially when a playoff spot is within striking distance. Granted, they'll get blown away by the Warriors or Rockets, but still. Playoffs is better than no playoffs. It seems that they're in an endless cycle of mediocrity. Hopefully they accomplish something while Mitchell is there to keep him from bolting.

They still have to play the games, but has any team ever won the trade deadline the way the Cavs just did? Outside of flipping TT for DJ, they got all they could have wanted. I'm still in shock. I dunno, that feels pretty heavily sugar-coated if you ask me. The Cavs just turned over half of their roster with about 30 games to go in order to "improve team chemistry". That seems like a really risky bet to hedge, regardless of roster improvement or not. I still think they're behind both Boston and Toronto in terms of who I see coming out of the east. After thinking about it since yesterday, I think Crowder is actually a pretty decent pickup who I believe will do much better in our system than in Cleveland. Snyder will utilize him better and I think in that case he has the potential to do what he did in Boston again, which would be great. Plus, the team is clicking well right now and shows signs that they can be great after all. Sure we’ll miss Hood and Johnson, but when Burks and O’Neale are on, they produce fairly well and could make up for that in Hood’s absence. Even if they don’t make the playoffs this year, I’m optimistic that they can next year and keep improving.

New Orleans is going to free fall without Cousins. The Clippers maybe, but I think Utah has the better team. No one else behind them has the talent to get there. Who knows- they did beat the Warriors by 30.

Because they traded a dude who's maybe going to retire in two or three months so he could finish his career in the city he belongs in -- the point wasn't to get anything in return, it was to do right by one of the best players this game's ever seen. dfwabel
Wow, Sixers. Quote “There always a chance that he’s going to be out there soon,” the team president of basketball operations said, “and there’s a chance that’s he not going to play this year. I can’t answer that question, because we don’t know the answer to that.” “We are talking about a situation where someone is relearning how to shooting a basketball, and that was one of his elite skill sets,” Colangelo said of Fultz. “That has to be frustrating. Right now, Fultz’s shooting range doesn’t extend beyond the paint. Colangelo said that’s where you draw the line. Fultz can make anything instinctive going to the hole, he added. “We talked about shot creation and some of the rise-ups,” Colangelo said. “It’s nice to see it coming along the way it is.” http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/sixers/sixers-76ers-markelle-fultz-bryan-colangelo-shoulder-injury-2017-nba-draft-20180209.html?mobi=true

TheRicSlick
That is exactly why teams should avoid trading with Danny Ainge. That man knows how to fleece.
Digby
It’s as much Brad Stevens getting the very best out of everyone as it is Ainge. That’s how it looks like the Celtics fleeced everyone both when they traded for IT and traded away IT. maybe the Sixers’ crack medical team would have broken Tatum in a parallel timeline, who knows!
