The Dillon Panthers, which I understand is semi-fictitious as it's based on the jerseys of an actual high school.

And then the East Dillon Lions.

Wasn't the team in the movie just black and white?

The Dillon Panthers are based on the real life Perriman Panthers, who were portrayed in the movie, right down to their actual colors and logo (which was adapted to blue and gold for the tv series).

The East Dillon Lions from the tv show are based on the real life Odessa High, which actually wears red and white, but are known as the Colts.

The TV show Dillon Panthers use the colours and logos of the Pflugerville Panthers.

FIFY.

BTW, no players wearing uniforms for the NY Canaries?

Bit of an odd case here, of a fictional team being used as a legal stand-in for a real team in a video game: in 2005 EA Sports released NHL 06, the PlayStation 2 version of which featured a port of the Genesis version of NHL '94, and because some non-NHL entity (either the city of Hartford or the state of Connecticut IIRC) held onto the trademarks for the Hartford Whalers after their 1997 relocation until ~2009, EA had to replace them in-game with a new team; and thus were born the Hartford Canes:

Everything else about the team in-game is the same (navy & green uniforms, Brass Bonanza playing at faceoffs, etc.), they just have a different name and Hurricanes-esque (and Canadiens-esque TBH) logo.

The commercial deals entirely with that one fan talking to his glove. The action on the field is shown only at a great distance, as the lucky main character winds up catching a foul ball at the very end of the commercial.

Got a link to the commercial? Or someplace I can find it?

You get a few shots of them, they’re playing a red team. They’re home looks seems to be black cap, white jersey and pants, and based on the New York script on the main characters jersey, and the numbers on the back of it, I would assume the numbers on the white are also black trimmed with yellow. The red teams got black undershirts and accessories but it’s too hard to make anything else out. They also have red helmets

The banner at 0:16 seems to be

xxxxx

champions

New York

undreadable team name script

It’s pretty hard to make out but the first letter of the unreadable team name script doesn’t seem to be a C

We also see a gray cap with a black bird logo in the opening shot and several gray clad fans, lending credence to grey being a tertiary color

Does anybody remember seeing an episode of Married With Children when Al and his Polk High team played an alumni game against a team wearing pink and black?

The Hamilton Steelheads with a very 90's jersey from the use of purple, with teal trim, non-traditional striping, and the dazzle material.  The show was called Power Play and the Steelheads were part of the NHL.

Sheesh.  What was it with 80s comedies and breasts?  Seems like every film had a gratuitous and sometimes incongruous jiggle shot.

The 80s were the heyday of the teen sex comedy  You could hardly go a week without a new one being released. It was a glorious time to be alive.

Hey man, we didn't have free porn a mouse click away back then.  We had to take our jiggles where we could get them.

Exactly.  Of course, this might count as a plus in the 2010s column.

I remember this episode. Didn't the opponents recruit a bunch of former NFL players?
