If they can come up with some kind of lease agreement that would solve a lot of the issue. Because I'm a map nerd, here's a Google Map with all the current large parking structures in the area. https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1yY9AHlPJM3l5XEoPmGvBVD3B72iWPC0&usp=sharing

The A's may have the best colours in baseball (though the kelly green would be even better). But they are far, far from the best-looking team. For them to have used that goofy generic Kansas City-era wordmark for 35 years is ridiculous. Instead, the team should be wearing a uniform that is in keeping with its history. The team's signature is the A on its uniform. So this is what the team should be wearing now. To have ever gone away from this uniform is a travesty. Alternate that jersey with these jerseys... ...and the A's could claim to be the best-looking team in baseball.

If you think it's gonna work, I'll take your word for it, but it doesn't feel like a home run to me. It would be very cool, though. So close yet so far to a SoCal Pac Bell Park where home runs go into the ocean. Digby
As long as they change the name to "Long Beach Angels", for the sake of giving this forum another eight or so years of content and argument.

It'll just be a retread of when the Angels were looking to move out of Los Angeles in the 60s. Quote The Angels’ top brass—president Bob Reynolds, general manager Fred Haney, and business manager Cedric Tallis—scouted the city in 1963, and things seemed promising. Things always seem promising in the early stages of all Long Beach dreams. Negotiations to bring the Angels to Long Beach exploded the following year, though, when Long Beach City Manager John Mansell, in the third year of the 15 in which he would lead the city, demanded that the name of the team be changed to the Long Beach Angels. Autry would have none of it. He thought Long Beach sounded bush league and instead insisted the name be the Southern California Angels*, to represent not only Los Angeles and Orange counties, but the growing Inland Empire as well. “That was unacceptable to us,” said Mansell (and the whole project, for that matter, was unacceptable to a group of citizens, led by future councilwoman Renee Simon, who protested the use of planned park land for the stadium). "It's like poetry, they rhyme" *I have seen both "Southern California" and "California" used in these anecdotes, so I don't know which one officially Autry wanted to go with. FiddySicks
I made the suggestion years ago that the two AL California teams should use Southern California and Northern California as their location markers and got absolutely eviscerated for it. I still don’t hate the idea. Both teams have had “location flux” for decades, so why not just make it more vague so you don’t have another situation where one of these teams is getting sued by, like, San Leandro or Garden Grove or some :censored:. 1 Quote On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) ltjets21
If the A's were to move to Vegas could they play in the Minor League Park for a few years? Brand new seats 10,000 would be better than lame duck seasons at the Coliseum.
FiddySicks
The A’s aren’t even averaging 10,000 a game right now, so why the hell not? em, as far as I’m concerned. Good riddance. It’s crazy to think it’s gotten to that point, but I don’t really even think the greater Bay Area/Northern California would even miss them at this point. 2 Quote On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) I want to believe that if the A’s end up moving, it won’t be Las Vegas—either the aforementioned Portland or Salt Lake—but given that MLB has waived the relocation fee to Las Vegas (or is it anywhere?), it’s obvious that Las Vegas is the preferred destination. I think Sacramento would be another great option if they can renovate the existing Triple-A stadium. Keeps them in Northern California too. 23 minutes ago, tigerslionspistonshabs said: Good point. Vegas could soon have NHL, NFL, MLB, NBA, WNBA, and MLS. That seems insane to me for that size of market. AT LEAST one of those teams isn't going to work out, probably MLS but if I'm MLB I'd think twice before I built a billion dollar retractable roofed stadium there. Portland has great summers and Oregonians have a history of great fan support in every sport, plus the only competition is NBA and MLS not every sport PLUS casinos, concerts, etc.
