BBTV
I'm terrified. Eagles love manipulating and trading around, but teams don't usually trade back a full month before the draft, right? Certainly there's more value to be had by trading on draft day when some team sees the guy they want available right there. Something is up. Knowing Howie Roseman, I think something big. There's a reason he's collecting picks. My gut says they may have something with Houston (as rumored by legit sources) and are waiting (hoping) for the Watson situation to play out in his favor since they could now offer Hurts and 3 #1s and still have a #1 next year. Since about 2015 the basketball team I like (but still barely even thought about), and the football team that I like (who were the most embarrassing team of all of mine) have had a string of insanely good luck and have become the ultimate “It” team. It’s weird as hell, won’t last, and have churned out an army of haters. God, this is so much better. Also, I’m hearing that if AB signs elsewhere (which he should), Larry freakin Fitzgerald may be a serious option. Again, it makes no sense, but this is Madden Bucs, apparently. I dismissed the lawyer as a moneyhungry scumbag but even if that may be true, he clearly has a more believable case now. It’s also about in general how letting preconceived notions be how cases should be decided is a terrible idea like in the example I cited and how I didn’t think this was legit at first. Still, best to wait until trial whether it’s civil or criminal. It makes sense. Lots of people wanted to do right by Deshaun Watson because he's a talented black guy who through no fault of his own has been having trouble with untalented white evangelical Christians. With how awful the Texans organization is, why wouldn't they cynically deploy sexual assault allegations? ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

With how awful the Texans organization is, why wouldn't they cynically deploy sexual assault allegations? Because what can be described as malevolence in the Texans organization is also just as incompetent if not more so? This is the "best" thing that could've happened to them. They're no longer on the hook for a lot of money and now Watson is the Bill Cosby of the NFL. It all feels like a setup, but after 24 or so different masseuses in different states say the same thing, it's probably true. They're just the luckiest mother:censored:ers in the NFL right now if their endgame is to get rid of Deshawn Watson. But the fact of the matter is, Beavis and Butthead would make a better owner and GM for the Texans. Yeah, I'm well aware ownership here isn't moral, but the difference is that they're amoral and brilliant not self-righteous and stupid. Frankly, football is a game that shortens the lifespan, causes irreversible brain damage in a lot of players and has misleading contracts. Trying to act all moral as owners is frankly complete BS. It's kind of stupid for fans to place football teams on any kind of moral spectrum or say that people who are exceptional athletes are naturally exceptional human beings but hey, we basically cheer for laundry and local pride so why not spice it up? The_Admiral
I would hope that NFL contracts aren't misleading to the people negotiating and signing them, but the non-guaranteed money certainly is incongruous to the contracts in other sports. No one's skipping over the fine print and learning later with great horror that they have to be Jerry Jones's butler, but I would guess that few players who sign their contracts are naturally inclined to bet against themselves and budget for their contracts essentially being nullified. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

I mean... the whole non-guarantee part is collectively bargained and agreed to by the players, so it's silly to say that the contracts are misleading. No player that gets released after year 3 of a 5-year deal is like "I didn't know they could do that! I'm suing." The NFL players bargained a system that benefits the stars and top FAs and damages the common player - but that's how they want it. There's tons of jabronis that pocket insane amounts of guaranteed money that they didn't really earn that certainly don't feel that the contracts are misleading. I laugh every time the argument comes up. Ha. Ha ha. BBTV
As part of the Carson Wentz trade, the Colts traded their 2022 2nd-round pick, but that pick becomes a 1st-round pick if Wentz plays 75% of games. Does that effectively "lock" their 2022 1st-round pick from other trades? Since they don't know which of the picks they'll be sending, if someone called them with some big trade package, would they be barred from dealing both of those picks until it's determined which one will be sent to Philadelphia? It would seem like it has to be, but I never really thought about it until now and hadn't read how it works when you trade conditional picks. It seems like teams are panicking and several QBs will get way overdrafted and their new teams will give up a ton of draft capital. It seems like a trap Bill won't fall for. Then again, looking at where QB's like Dak, Mahomes & Jackson(still don't know why Pats didn't grab him) fell to, 15 really isn't a bad spot in all honesty. I know sticking with Cam wasn't the most popular move, but it was definitely the smartest one. It's another 1 year deal so there little risk involved if for whatever reason, he can't make it work with this team now. Plus Pats only have a team like this now because they were able to sign him to such a low deal.

And Mahomes was the 2nd QB off the board, Jackson the 5th at 32nd overall. There's a good chance the 5th QB will come off the board at 5th overall this year. The Patriots would need to mortgage their entire future to trade up or overdraft a guy like Kyle Trask by like three rounds to get a QB in the first round. The fan reaction to Cam in the last two seasons has been crazy. Panthers fans (at least I think a lot were and certainly I was) very unhappy that he was cut last year. Now Patriots fans are unhappy to have him back. I still think he has a lot left in the tank and was dragged down last year by his supporting cast. He won't have that excuse this year though, so it's put up or shut up.

gothedistance
I see that the NFL decided that the AFC would be the conference to be the host team to start the 17 game schedule. Did they do this in accordance with who the host team of the 2022 Pro Bowl and Super Bowl is? The AFC is the host team of those two games this season.
