So to summarize:

Bears trade up in the draft

They pass on Mahomes and Watson

They draft Trubisky instead

They could sign Andy Dalton but don't

They trade for Nick Foles

They sign Andy Dalton anyway

They lose a #2 overall pick they traded up to get for nothing

Nobody gets fired

As for Buffalo, Mitch Trubisky is Josh Allen with a 75 IQ, so I guess maybe they can use him in a pinch or if they have a burning need to put up yardage and points in garbage time, which Trubisky is elite at

They could've signed Dalton for like $4-6 million less and saved themselves a 4th round pick in the process.  They now have to overpay Dalton and somehow navigate the $5M still owed to Foles (if they even keep him), and that's in addition to the Trubisky stuff, which is on its own worth 1000+ words.

I can't keep replaying all the missteps.  It's going to give me epilepsy.

It's the player-personnel equivalent of calling a timeout, calling a challenge, and then losing the challenge, which the Bears also do a lot.

The Nagy equivalent would be calling a timeout to kill any momentum, come out of the timeout and get called for either illegal formation or delay of game, then punting.

I think the Bears mascot needs an update to wear a funny hat while riding a tricycle to more properly reflect the organization and it’s values.

A Chiefs fan should be careful about criticizing an organization's values.  The mascot point stands.

At least we put a winning product on the field aka the very point of a football team’s existence. The Bears are just a mess.

Still, I’m legit glad you found the mascot idea funny.

EDIT: And now, for something completely different than alleged rapists and a dynasty of lolcows. NFL reaches a new TV deal with networks and Amazon who now has the exclusive national rights to Thursday Night Games (Looks like Bezos got replaced with Bozo IMO). Also, football is back on ABC. And now MNF games can be flexed after Week 12. Okay, nevermind, Bozo isn’t just running Amazon, he’s apparently running the NFL too.

Luckily every device and TV in my house is connected to the Internet, but you know, remembering which app to open for a given football game isn't as elegant as channel flipping used to be.

The NFL should be above streaming-only telecasts. I don't even like it when games are only on extended-tier cable. It feels so small-time, like something the NHL would do and call it a feature instead of a bug.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Jeff Bezos is still the CEO, but I'm curious how Andy Jassy is a "bozo".  That seems to be an edgy take.

Because who the hell would want the Thursday Night Games? This new guy coming in better hope that there’s some unprecedented appetite for scheiße-tier football or he won’t move enough Prime subscriptions to justify it. The average number of people watching Thursday Night Football on a combination of network, cable and streaming was around 14.1 million viewers on average last year.

By comparison, Amazon Prime had 112,000,000 subscribers as of 2019. I can only imagine that said number has risen since the pandemic. At best, if everyone who watched Thursday Night Football did not have Amazon Prime and bought Amazon Prime to watch Thursday Night Football, Amazon Prime’s subscribers would only grow by 12.56%. Obviously, there is quite a bit of overlap between watching Thursday Night Football and people who own Amazon Prime accounts. So, that potential growth is going to be at least 4% lower (roughly 1 in 3 Americans had an Amazon Prime account as of 2019) and I’m using year old statistics so the impact could be even less.

It just looks like he way overspent and it now looks like Amazon is starting to bite off more than it can chew.

And also, Andy Jassy better be grateful his parents didn’t agree on calling him Hugh.

Apparently Tony Buzbee allegedly said he was Cal McNair’s neighbor.

Whoever said that the Texans were using this as blackmail was dead on if this is true. Also, might lead to Deshawn Watson walking away from this without spending a day in a prison cell.

See, this is what has me suspicious. This all comes out after the relationship falls beyond repair and he wants out. Either they covered up his actions all this time and are now using it as blackmail, which is AWFUL, or, they planted this. Either way, something here feels way off. And I don’t usually EVER feel that way.

:censored:, (and this is off the cuff, so please don’t take this the wrong way) even it being linked to a masseuse feels strange considering what just happened in Atlanta. Absolutely could be an unrelated coincidence. Probably is. I could also see someone who’s desperate and starting to panic (which I think the Texans are) having that thought process, though.

If this is some sort of blackmail on Watson, what sense does it make?

Hurting his "stock" would only hurt Houston since they're the ones that would get compensation for him. Watson still gets paid regardless of his new team

The point is to try and tank his stock so hard no other team wants him on board, thus denying him from being able to leave.

Can't imagine he will spend a day in prison considering how seldom sexual assault allegations actually result in a conviction.  Beyond that, having read two of the complaints, it all feels like he said, she said.  The accusations may well be credible, but I'm not sure how you prosecute it.

I don't know much about this Tony Buzbee guy beyond that he tried to sue his HOA because they wouldn't let him park a Sherman tank in front of his house, but he doesn't seem like the most credible person out there.  That said, I'm inclined to believe the allegations.  We will see, though.

I think we may be underestimating the full magnitude of this ownership group’s stupidity. Some of the :censored: I’ve heard about Cal McNair is straight up crazy.

Like I said, Jeff Bezos is still in charge, so I'm not sure about that point.  Even if Jassy was in charge, I'm willing to bet that the person that built AWS into what it is knows a little about what he's doing.  Sometimes you don't buy something to get new people, but to keep competitors from getting it, or because you're setting up for future partnerships, or... who knows.  I just know that calling a guy with Jassy's track record "bozo" (when he's not even the one in charge) seems a little harsh.
