Minor/Independent/Collegiate League Baseball Logo/Uniform Changes

Apparently this is basically an all-star team from a different Indy league that plays in New York and New Hampshire, which makes it a bit weirder. Grays was, as I recall, the name used by the Frontier League's last travelling team (a common strategy used when a team unexpectedly folds, to keep things even).

The logos are nice, though. Maybe a bit dark.spacer.png

Yeah. The Greys were on the schedule this year, but then were "replaced" by the Empire State Greys.

Wausau Woodchucks unveiled their road jersey - or a replica version of it, at least. Game hats have not been released yet, so this is a tonal fashion hat.

Hadn't seen this posted yet, but MiLB leagues are getting their names back, i.e. Pacific Coast League (with a new logo as well), International League, Texas League, etc. Apparently, the regional names of 2021 were in place while MLB worked to acquire the rights to the original league names.

As for the new PCL logo, it's beautiful. My only qualm is why the evergreen trees are navy outlined in green rather than just... green... against a navy background? Doesn't make any sense and would look a whole lot better.

Not sure I believe the “party line” here.  I think it’s more likely MLB and the major league owners, in their arrogance, didn’t realize how poorly received literally every last bit of their remake of the minors would be and this is a fairly “painless” bone they can throw.  Certainly the vibe when they renamed everything last year wasn’t that these were just placeholder names (or at least placeholders while they secured legacy league IPs).

My belief is that they were placeholder names with MLB intending to sell the naming rights to each league like the NBA did to its minor league. But then MLB found out that the market price for branding a regional league that they had turned into damaged goods by stripping out its history and massacring a quarter of the product wasn't what they'd hoped for.

I still think this is happening in some form like:

GEICO Eastern League
or
Eastern League sponsored by GEICO

And if not the leagues totally whatever AllStar/Championship games that eventually come to MLB Network (not that they already are not there)

Lake Country of the American Association with the uni unveil. It's not really clear which is for home and which is away. The blue tops are pleasant enough, I guess, nothing to really write home about...the beltloop striping is interesting.

As for the other one, woof...the Rainbow Guts phase jumped the shark about ten years ago, and these aren't even colors that work well together to do the striping. The light-blue-outlined-in-navy lettering looks awful on a white top, and are those navy blue pants? Yuck.

Also, I know sublimated jerseys are cheaper to produce, they allows for more creativity in the design, and they're cooler, temperature-wise, to wear and so the players prefer them...but baseball jerseys with an embroidered design and numbers just look so, so much better and more professional.

This whole Dockhounds launch has had a strong air of a municipality wondering what it's going to do with an empty ballpark about two years from now.

I know last year everyone still called whatever name they gave for the San Antonio Missions the Texas League because that's what it's been called for ages. Glad to see they're that once again.

Must be blue spruce evergreens...😉

The logo is a beautiful... as a picture. The League name, however and the imagery portrayed is now sort of like the 14 team Big 10, unlinked to reality.  How many teams can actually be said to be in the "Pacific Coast" region as portrayed in the logo?  Two, the Sacramento River Cats and the Tacoma Rainiers.  If you wanted to stretch it, you might be able to include the two Nevada teams (Las Vegas Aviators and Reno Aces).  But no way are the majority of the teams (Albuquerque, El Paso,  Oklahoma City, Round Rock [Austin] , Salt Lake, and Sugar Land  [Houston]  close to the Pacific Coast.

It is what it is.

Mallards ownership was looking at the area a few years back, but they've been in the business of selling their non-Madison clubs, not adding more. I still wouldn't be surprised if the Dockhounds end up in Northwoods League after a season or two. Summer Collegiate seems to be more lucrative than Indy.

Read that as Lake County and wondered if Zion had gotten snookered again.
