They topped out at $110 million as I recall in 2015. The threshold back then was $189 million. CS85 Posted July 30, 2021 Share Posted July 30, 2021 I don't have the kind of emotional fusion to these guys like some younger Cubs fans do who grew up with Rizzo, Bryant & co., but it was so cool watching them grow, come together, and make history. That said, they've been all collectively inconsistent and in their own heads for a few years now, disappointing fans year after year. We all knew it was coming, and the Cubs system is pretty much dead, so recouping something for what has only nostalgic value, really, is a plus. My guess is Theo left so as not to be the bad guy who inevitably dismantled his own creation, and watching stuff like this reinforces that belief.
