The tweets in this article give a strong impression that Seahawks are working on throwback alternates for 2023…

Seahawks should have throwbacks this year. Ridiculous. Or change the helmet back to silver so you don’t even have to give players two helmets.

I swear to God this organization is doing everything in their power to try and deprive us of Russell Wilson in a Seahawks throwback.

Well, he’s probably suiting up for a new team next season. Hopefully the Broncos, where he can wear a throwback-inspired uniform.

This was as good as the Cardinals got but even then it's still not enough for me.

Just out of genuine curiosity, what would you do for the Cardinals? I know what you mean that it isn’t quite “enough,” as it feels like the Cardinals have had fine uniforms in their past, but never a great one that has withstood the test of time like the Bears, Steelers, Chiefs, or Raiders (an admittedly high bar to match).

Because of that, I personally wouldn’t mind seeing them try something completely new, but I could easily see myself eating those words after the Cards eventually come out with a  new set.

By far my least favorite uniforms in my 53 years of being a Cardinals fan.

I hated those SO very much.

It surprises me that you hate those uniforms, I imagined that most people thought they were just “fine.” The inconsistencies that @oldschoolvikings pointed out definitely sour it a bit, though.

Like I asked above, I’m curious what you would do if you had control of the Cardinals’s uniforms, being a fan? It really is difficult to pin down what the ideal Cards look should be, so I’m curious to hear your thoughts.

Yea, this seems to be the best, albeit safest, solution.

The biggest criticism I’ve heard of a set like this is that it looks too much like Louisville, but honestly Louisville doesn’t even look like Louisville anymore, so the point is pretty much moot.

That would be a classic look for the Cards that still keeps them distinct among the NFL, while balancing their colors pretty well, too.

Yes. Correct. The Jake Plummer unis overthought the simplicity of the brand. When you use those colors in that way with that Generic Helmet from Every Sporting Goods Store in the Country helmet it's not sharp like the Raiders or Giants, it's just boring. It's a nothing statement. You gotta do something from the neck down because the helmet isn't adding any punch on its own, but the incredibly 2004 uniforms they've been wearing since 2005 are the opposite of that.

Except this makes them the South Carolina Gamecocks, sans their rotating helmets (1 white, 2 different black, 1 garnet), albeit with fewer colors.  The SCG look pretty much exactly like this in Garnet and Red.

Or, the Bucs, where he can wear an actual throwback uniform.

I don't care what college teams do because they're going to change their uniforms five minutes from now anyways and the Cardinals have historical precedent for using that stripe.

I'm just taking that pants stripe element and using it throughout the rest of the uniform so it's a cohesive look.

That's a cool photo.

Back when a football jersey was a big t-shirt. It's football sleeve porn. To think there was enough real estate for stripes of that size and a logo (or a sleeve number in the Vikings case) is really funny to me. If the Cardinals wanted to wear that as a throwback I don't know how they'd make that happen on today's jerseys.

Don't rule out Navy (or "Heritage" as they call it)...they've hinted at using that as an alt color since unveiling the current set

I think it's petty obvious looking at the whole process that if they go navy, they're going navy and white for the alt.  That's where they were aiming until fan blowback made them go royal and "sol."

With that helmet, I think they have two options.  If they go with this, the helmet's fine.  If they go modern again, Bidwell needs to drop the act and update the facemask.  The glaring issue (amongst many) with the current look is that the throwback-style helmet does not belong with the piped up mid-aughts aesthetic.

Does anybody know how the league's uniform designation system works? For example, I know the jerseys designated as alternates can be worn only three times per year. That was why, for example, the Rams wore their new white jerseys only three times in the regular season and had to get permission to use them in the Super Bowl. Are there only two (home and away) that can be considered primary and anything else is considered and alternate?

The Chargers unveiled all four sets at once, and based on how they've worn them over the past two years, it looks like that's how it works — for the Chargers, they use the white and powder blue jerseys as primary, with the royal and navy jerseys as alternate.

For the Rams it seems pretty obvious to designate the primaries as the royal and white jerseys, and the alternates the bone and whatever they do this year.

There is a whole lot of Heritage and Sol in the logo slick.

A navy blue jersey with the colored rams head on the sleeves, or most likely just the rams horns, makes a lot of sense. Especially if they decide to go with a navy blue helmet to mix and match with the other uniforms.

Yeah there's primary home, primary road, and then alternates are third color, Color Rush, or throwback

I could see them going with a navy shell and jersey with white numbers, pants and horn decals. Throwback-ish to the 60's teams, and the white pants could rotate in with the royal and white jerseys.

All the years when the Rams helmet shell was clearly darker than the jersey, it never bothered me. Now that I've seen how it looks when they match, I don't like the mismatched shell/jersey.  I wonder if they'd do a true throwback with the mismatched helmet/jersey. That, to me, would be a waste of the new shell.

I think it depends on if they decided to use stickers for those horns or if they go with painted horns.

I’m predicting the Rams next uniform will be all-white color rush. Probably another new white jersey and pants with exclusively “heritage” accents to honor the Fearsome Foursome era. Or, perhaps, just some new white pants to make a color rush with the current white jersey. I mean, did they say whether it was gonna be new jerseys for both years or just uniforms?

I highly doubt the Rams would hype up a new “uniform” 2 years in advance just for it to be an extra pair of pants.
