That, and their current collar (ish) design probably doesn't mesh well with the new template's front seam.

Yeah, that too. I think the design may have just fit above the seam, but it’s possible they would’ve had to shrink it a little bit.

They’re going all-white vs. Michigan:

Unlike Georgia and Ohio State, looks like they didn’t receive the new Vapor FUSE uniforms. Not all that surprising IMO, they didn’t even switch over to the Vapor Untouchable template until 2019. Nike’s probably had the template switch for programs like UGA, tOSU, Alabama, SC, etc. in the works for a couple of years, whereas for TCU it could be another year or two. I would fully expect Michigan to have the new template.

I wonder if this was a case of Nike deciding at the last minute to hand out the new templates, which meant it would take too long to get that neck/shoulder pattern placed on the jerseys.

I would think it was the opposite, actually. I would bet Nike planned before the season to have their elite programs “debut” the new template (not technically since Oregon has had it since 2019) if any of them made the playoff. They did the same for the 2017 playoff, as Ohio State, Alabama, and Clemson all wore the Vapor Untouchable template for the first time in that year’s CFP. That year Washington made the playoff, but didn’t receive the Vapor Untouchable template until the 2018 season. I know for basketball Nike has a select number of so-called “Elite” schools, and I would assume the same was/is true for football as well. If so, Washington probably wasn’t considered one back then and TCU likely isn’t now.  Could also be as simple as Nike not anticipating TCU having a chance to make the playoff and so they didn’t put jerseys on the new template into production for them.

In any case, this wouldn’t have been a last minute decision by Nike. These jerseys were likely put into production before the season.

Weird tweet from the Peach Bowl. It shows Georgia in the old template with the Flywire collar with block numbers and the chrome swoosh. That jersey never existed as the school’s first CFP appearance came in 2017 when they had the Vapor Untouchable template and still used Bulldog Bold for the numbers. For some reason they decided to photoshop an old jersey.

Based on some Oregon players using white game helmets for practice, it seems those will be part of whatever the Ducks wear for the Holiday Bowl.

Maybe. Anymore, some teams take two sets so they can have a clean helmet ready and beat the snot out of the others all week.

The Ducks have dedicated practice helmets for that purpose, though. They usually break the game helmets in during their walk-through the day before the game, but in this case I suspect the EQ team just had the players break them in early so they could prep them and set them up in the stadium locker room.

If the Ducks do end up wearing them, it’d be their first time wearing these white lids with white masks. Previously they’ve only used green masks, but there have been a couple recruits wear the white masks recently.

Not sure why they'd wear white when Texas will be. But it's not out of the ordinary for them.
