Also the team is selling 2023 on-field collection featuring the maroon throwback alternates. "They're Phillie colors," Cohen said. "They should be more Met-appropriate." After a call with NewYork-Presbyterian, the Mets will be tweaking the new sponsorship patch -- the team's first. The patch, which was red and white, will now sport a more team-friendly look. Fans on Thursday poked fun at the patch and its sponsor, especially because of the large group of players -- including Justin Verlander and Edwin Diaz -- currently on the injured list. I'm really surprised that they're seemingly allowing the colors to be changed. Isn't that the point of advertising? Yeah - I get it. This is a sports logo board and its aesthetics suck. I'm not arguing that. The whole point of advertising is to be noticed -- unless they figure this change will bring more eyeballs to it and make it worthwhile. It's where I sit. aawagner011 Posted April 8, 2023 Share Posted April 8, 2023 All I have so far is video, but I believe the Braves have a change to their Friday reds that I don’t recall seeing last year. The couple players that show their socks are wearing red, instead of navy. These are the only socks that the Braves ever need: They’ve been worn through all eras of Braves history from Boston, Milwaukee, and Atlanta. Not a fan of the red socks. Could be that Nike doesn’t have them available at retail yet. My understanding is the throwbacks were only recently promoted to full time alternate, and the Rays had to drop gray from their rotation to include them. Previously they had white, gray, navy, and sky blue. I think uniforms that are in your standard rotation get the full offering from manufacturers (Nike, New Era, Stance) as part of the Authentic Collection label. One off throwbacks or alternates (like the Mets black jerseys before they were made a standard alt) aren’t produced at retail. Nike sells the throwback jersey in white. I think the piping is black and the on-field is probably navy (honestly can’t tell) but it’s passable. As of a couple days ago the team store (Bay Republic) had them in men’s but they seem to be sold out. It’s still got the original black and purple highlights, yet they paired it with the current pants with the navy piping, and made a brand new navy cap with the old logo to clumsily tie it altogether.
