2023 NFL Regular Season Through Super Bowl LVIII

On one hand, they’d have lost in the first round if Campbell wasn’t aggressive on fourth down calls and people only remember the times it backfires.  That said, those decisions really bit them in the ass tonight. But the dumbest decision, imo, was running on that third down and wasting a timeout.

The Niners being able to stage a comeback is a strange development, especially when they were so outclassed in the first half. The Lions could really have had them beat if not for being overly aggressive on 4th down and making some inopportune blunders of a more mundane nature.

I look forward to seeing where the Lions go from here. But for now, it's on to KC in Vegas.

Even if it ended in heartbreak, still a helluva season for the Lions. They'll absolutely be back soon enough with all their young talent. Wishing them the best next near.

Please, dear god almighty, let the 49ers beat the ever-living hell out of Kansas City.

The issue I have with Campbell going for it on 4th down is he didn't need to do it with a 24-10 lead. This isn't week seven against the Vikings. You're playing in the NFC Championship game, take every point you can get. Especially when you have a 14 point lead.

I was more puzzled laying up for the field goal going into the half. 4th & 2.5 yards to the endzone...that screams "go for it" in Campbell-ese. "It was just a little too far"...bull :censored:

Having said that, there's making a decision and then there's the way the play works out...the first 4th down attempt that backfired - the first Reynolds drop - was a perfectly called and executed play, the receiver :censored:ing dropped it. Backbreaker. They never recovered from that.

Chiefs 31-19. Reid will outcoach Shanahan.

By the way did McCaffrey get hurt?

Yes. He got dumped on his head in that run to about the 2 yard line. He held up a finger to say he needed to get out.

It's where I sit.

This kind of feels like exactly the kind of game the Niners had to have. They don’t play from down often, and when they do it usually ends up bad. Doing this vs Detroit instead of trying to figure out how to stop the run on the fly vs Kansas City in the Super Bowl seems more deadly.

Chiefs kill people over the middle, and the Niners defend that better than anyone else in the league. I think the Niners come out like gangbusters and do to the Chiefs what the Bucs did in their first shot at going back to back.

Wait… you hate the Minnesota Vikings?  That’s hilarious!  That’s like hating…. I don’t know, like the Indiana Pacers, or old Scooby Doo reruns.  Or your four year old nephew who occasionally says annoying things.  What could the Vikings have possibly done to the fans of any other team to create the least amount of offense?

Been a Bears fan basically my whole life, also been a Packers fan since middle school.  The Vikings admittedly annoy me slightly less than Dallas, they just have more opportunity to be annoying.  Also grandson of a Kentuckian, so I probably should hate the Pacers for still existing while the Colonels folded. :hockeysmiley:
