Bengie Molina is officially on the market. The Angels declined arbitration. Also, it's common knowledge that Washburn won't be returning. It sucks to see Bengie go, but the Halos are probably freeing up room to possibly get Manny Ramirez. From what i read, the deal that may take place is Troy Glaus to Boston, Manny to LA, and prospects to Arizona. It also looks as though Darin Erstad will be going to Boston  or Boston will pay some of Manny's remaining contract...or both.

Glaus and Erstad for Ramirez? Hmmm.

I'm already over the Thornton thing. I say, go for it!

Latest Manny rumor...supposedly in discussions...Ramirez for Soriano and Hank Blalock...that would be a hell of a trade for the Sox...

I'd rather see this. Granted, I'm an Angels fan, and Manny Ramirez would be going to division rivals. But, I really can't stand Manny Ramirez, and I would be furious to see Darin erstad go. It'd be the 2nd time my favorite player on the Angels left. The first being Jim Edmonds, of course.

Trevor Hoffman re-signs with the Padres. 2 years, $13 million with an option for a 3rd year. I hear that option is performance related. If he hits certain marks then it automatically kicks in.

The Padres are division rivals, but I'm glad to see this. It's nice to have a guy like Hoffman finish w/ the franchise for whom he's played his whole major league career. Hells Bells, baby.

Ahhh, How in the world do they keep doing this. This is the second big name player that has pretty much had the pen in his hand to sign a contract with a new team that has for some unexplained reason resigned with the fathers :therock:

Good. Glaus is a likeable guy w/ huge power, but he swings for the fences every time, which leads to tons of strikeouts and wasted opportunities.

Plus, I watched him limp around most of last season, which doesn't bode well for his longterm durability. He's a big dude who's regularly asked to dive for ground balls, and that takes a toll on the body.

Oh, yeah, and he's blocking Chad Tracy at 3B, who's blocking either Carlos Quentin in RF or Conor Jackson at 1B. Moving Glaus makes the rest of the pieces fit better and frees up salary that can be used to improve other parts of the team.

Anyone heard which prospects Arizona might get in the deal? Kelly Shoppach is one of the few prominent BoSox prospects still bumping around, but the last thing we need is another young catcher. Brandon Wood and Jered Weaver are gems in the Angels system, but I'd be surprised to see them moved unless Boston agrees to pay a bunch of Manny's salary.

I love the Hot Stove League!

I heard a stupid rumor that the Cubs, BoSox, and Mets would work out a 3-way.

Mets: Manny Ramirez

Sawx: Cubs/Mets prospects

Cubs: Cliff Floyd

I highly...highly doubt this one will get pulled off.

Danny Kolb back to Milwaukee for Wes Obermueller

YES!!! :woot::woot::woot::woot:

He was good in Milwaukee, but he sucked with the Braves. I hope he gets back on track there.

Kolb is more suited to being a setup man than a closer, he should do fine setting up for Derrick Turnbow...

SEMOStl, whats the word on Busch anywho? Are they in the process of tearing it down or did they already do it? I haven't checked up on it, wondering if you've been clued in as a cardinal fan.

I just got the Cardinal tickets package brochure today too. It's stupid, they have different plans that give you a bundle of teams instead of picking a Cubs vs. Cardinals one only. I was kind of pissed.

I can't see the Red Sox pulling off a trade where they recieve a boat load of prospects and no big name superstar.

Okay, it's dark out as I post this, but wait until morning to view what's left of Busch Stadium...

I heard new ARI GM Josh Byrnes on the radio tonight. He said the rumored Glaus/Manny/prospects 3-way w/ the Angels was on the back-burner. I'm intrigued by his early Estrada move and the rumors re Glaus and Vazquez. Dude might be a pretty solid exec. As always, time will tell.

And if you can't wait...if you think of the stadium as a big pie, your girlfriend's half piece is left standing and that's it.

Soriano to Nationals: What, WHAT?! This guy was supposed to be the franchise hitter or something? Still, nice to see that the Nats are gaining respect and stars.

Overbay to Jays: DONUTS! There's our power bat. Ladies and gentlemen, your Toronto Yankees!
